Aamir Raza Husain, a noted theatre actor and director known for his large outdoor stage productions such as "The Fifty Day War" based on the Kargil War and "The Legend of Ram," has passed away at 66. He was also the Creative Director of the Stagedoor Theatre company, established in 1974, which has presented over 91 productions and more than 1,100 performances. The actor was known for his unforgettable stage plays like ‘The Fifty Day War’ (2000) and ‘The Legend of Ram’. He is survived by his wife, muse, and creative partner, Virat Talwar.
About: Aamir Raza Husain - He was born to an aristocratic family in Lucknow on January 6, 1957, and made his stage debut at the prestigious Mayo College in Ajmer playing the craftsman Tom Snout in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. His interest grew in the rich cultural landscape of St Stephen’s College in Delhi, where Husain graduated in history in 1977. He liked to talk about being directed by Shashi Tharoor and watching the Kerala MP playing Antony in Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra.
World Food Safety Day is marked annually on June 7, to raise awareness about the importance of safe food practices and to highlight the global need for safe food. This international day is a collaborative effort between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
History - World Food Safety Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 through a resolution. The resolution was proposed by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and was co-sponsored by a total of 44 countries. The day was officially designated to be observed annually on June 7th.The establishment of World Food Safety Day highlights the increasing global concern regarding food safety and the need for collective action to address this issue. It recognizes that ensuring safe food practices is not only crucial for public health but also for sustainable development, food security, and international trade.
Theme - The theme of this year’s World Food Safety Day 2023 is “Food standards save lives.” Most people depend on the information in the packaging of consumable items to know whether their food is safe. These food safety standards guide farmers and those who process food.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between National Hydro Electric Power Corporation Private Limited'- NHPC and Department of Energy, Government of Maharashtra for the development of Pumped Storage schemes and other Renewable Energy Source projects in the state of Maharashtra.
The MoU envisages development of four Pumped Storage Projects aggregating to a total capacity of 7,350 MW, namely Kalu – 1,150 MW, Savitri – 2,250 MW, Jalond – 2,400 MW and Kengadi -1,550 MW. Other Renewable Energy Source Projects too will be developed in the state under the agreement.
The MoU entails harnessing the Pump Storage Projects as Energy Storage Solutions to help achieve the national objective of Energy Transition, i.e., installed capacity of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and Net Zero by 2070.
Indian Navy partners with QNu Labs to leverage quantum-based techniques for secure communication,
Indian Navy will now deploy large-scale quantum-based encryption systems to enhance data and communication security. Indian Navy has chosen quantum cybersecurity provider QNu Labs as the partner to procure and deploy quantum key distribution-based systems. QKD is a secure communication technique using principles of quantum mechanics. The QNu Labs will be providing QKD-based Hub & Spokes systems to the Indian Navy,
The procurement order for the same was signed by Indian Navy in May. As per QNu Labs, this deal will secure the communications network against potential threats and position Indian Navy as a ‘pioneer in the field of quantum secure communication within the country’.
In Bihar, new Civil Enclaves will be constructed at Darbhanga and Purnea Airport. The Government of Bihar and Airports Authority of India (AAI) have signed MOUs in this regard. Under the MOU construction will take place on 78 acres of land in Darbhanga and 52.18 acres of land in Purnea. Presently the air services are functional at Darbhanga airport from a makeshift Civil Enclave.
Under the agreement, the Government of Bihar will provide undisputed land free of cost to AAI for both airports. It will lead to the construction of well-equipped terminal buildings and passenger-centric facilities at the airports of Darbhanga and Purnea. The construction of the new Civil Enclave at Purnea Airports will also pave the way for the commencement of air services there, eliminating the existing hurdles.
