- Veteran French conservative Michel Barnier has taken over as the new Prime Minister of France, Almost two months after France's snap elections ended in political stalemate.
Algerian President Tebboune Wins Second Term with 95% Vote
- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has been re-elected for a second term with 95% of the vote, Tebboune received 94.65% of the vote, while his opponents, Abdelaali Hassani Cherif and Youcef Aouchiche, garnered 3% and 2% respectively.

India launches National Blockchain Framework
- The Indian Government has launched the Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology Stack alongside the National Blockchain Framework (NBF). The launch aims to facilitate Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) as well as support the creation of innovative decentralised applications.
PM Modi launches Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative, The Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative was launched in Surat, Gujarat, on 6 September 2024 in the presence of Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti CR Patil and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

- Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka hoisted the trophy in New York at last after years of close calls, as she outplayed American sixth seed Jessica Pegula 7-5 7-5 in the U.S. Open women's final.
Jannik Sinner won the U.S. Open men’s title
- Jannik Sinner bookended his standout Grand Slam year with his second major title when the Italian defeated Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to lift the trophy at the US Open.
- The 23-year-old delivered a high-quality display to dash home hope Fritz’s title dreams and clearly showcase why he has risen to the top of the game in the past 18 months. World No. 1 Sinner has now won a Tour-leading six titles in a stunning 2024 season and has moved 4,105 points clear of his nearest challenger Alexander Zverev in the battle to claim ATP Year-End No. 1 presented by PIF honours.
England all-rounder Moeen Ali retires from international cricket
- Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket, with the 37-year-old declaring: “I've done my part.” In an interview with the Daily Mail, Moeen Munir Ali OBE is an English cricketer, who was formerly vice-captain of England in limited overs cricket. He played Test cricket for his country between 2014 and 2023, becoming only the 16th person to hit 3,000 runs and take 200 wickets in Tests.

Randhir Singh Becomes First Indian To Be Elected As OCA President
- Veteran sports administrator Randhir Singh became the first Indian to be elected as the president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) during the 44th General Assembly of the continental body.
IAS officer Tuhin Kanta Pandey appointed as Finance Secretary
- The government has appointed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Tuhin Kanta Pandey as Finance Secretary, Mr Pandey replaces TV Somanathan, who has been appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary of India, succeeding Rajiv Gauba in August.
