Jharkhand High Court Opens 15 Vacancies for District Judges
The High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi, has announced a recruitment drive for 15 vacancies for the esteemed position of District Judges, targeting eligible candidates from the Bar.
This recruitment offers a revised pay scale of Rs. 1,44,840 - 1,94,860 (Level-J-5), presenting a lucrative opportunity for qualified advocates. Candidates must be law graduates recognized for enrolment as advocates under the Advocates Act, 1961 to qualify for the position. Additionally, they must be aged between 35 and 45 years as of January 31, 2023, with an age relaxation of three years for SC/ST candidates. A minimum of seven years of active practice at the Bar is also required.
Applicants are advised to ensure their eligibility before applying and must pay an examination fee of Rs. 1000 for General and Other candidates and Rs. 500 for SC/ST candidates via an online payment gateway available on the website.
The selection procedure is rigorous, comprising a Preliminary Entrance Test, Main Examination, and a Viva-Voce Test.
Preliminary Entrance Test: Candidates will answer questions on General English, General Knowledge, CPC, CrPC, Evidence Act, Contract Law, IPC, and other relevant legal subjects. The test will consist of 100 marks with a two-hour duration. Each incorrect answer will result in a one-mark deduction.
Main Examination: This examination includes two papers:
Viva-Voce Test: Candidates who pass the written exams with a minimum of 30% in the Viva-Voce will have their scores combined to create a final merit list.
Differently-abled candidates are provided an additional 20 minutes per hour of examination. Candidates will also need to download their Admit Card from the Court’s website using their registration number and birth date as no hard copies will be mailed.
This recruitment process will adhere to the guidelines set forth in the Jharkhand Superior Judicial Service Rules, 2001, as amended, and the recent Jharkhand Superior Judicial Service Regulations, 2024.
