IAF to take Part in Exercise Pitch Black 2024

  • Indian Air Force is all set to take Part in Exercise Pitch Black 2024, Largest in History in Australia. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is soaring into the international spotlight once again, participating in the massive Exercise Pitch Black 2024 to be held in Darwin, Australia from 12 July 2024.
  • Exercise Pitch Black 2024 is the largest in the exercise's 43-year history, drawing participation from 21 air forces with over 140 aircraft and 4,435 personnel. This year's iteration will see the IAF's Su-30MKIs engage in a series of demanding scenarios alongside aircraft from other participating nations, including advanced Western fighters like the Eurofighter, Rafale, and F-15.

Sub-Lt Anamika Rajeev Becomes Indian Navy's 1st Woman Helicopter Pilot

  • Sub-Lieutenant Anamika B Rajeev has become the Indian Navy's first woman helicopter pilot after she received the prestigious "Golden Wings" at the passing-out parade at a naval air station in Tamil Nadu's Arakkonam.
  • In another feat, Lt Jamyang Tsewang, the first commissioned naval officer from Ladakh, also successfully graduated as a qualified helicopter pilot.
  • Sub-Lieutenant Anamika Rajeev and Lt Tsewang are among 21 officers awarded the "Golden Wings" by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, at the passing-out parade at INS Rajali.

Iga Swiątek Wins Women’s Singles Title, 3rd Time In a Row - French Open

  • In the French Open Tennis Women’s singles final, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland overcame an early wobble to beat first-time Italy’s Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1 at Roland Garris on Saturday. She became only the third woman in the Open era to clinch three straight French Open titles. 

Sift Kaur Samra Bags Bronze Medal in Women’s 50m Rifle 3-Position In ISSF Rifle Pistol World Cup

  • Women’s 50m rifle 3-positions specialist Sift Kaur Samra won a bronze medal on Friday on the concluding day of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle/Pistol in Munich, as India ended the competition with two medals.
  • Sarabjot Singh had won gold in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol yesterday. Sift shot 452.9, to give up silver by an agonizing 0.1 to China’s Han Jiayu, the reigning Air Rifle Women’s World Champion. World No. 1 Seonaid Mcintosh of Great Britain won gold with a score of 466.7.

Ramoji Rao, Founder of Eenadu Group & Ramoji Film City, Passes away

  • Ramoji Rao, the founder of Eenadu Group and Ramoji Film City, passed away on June 8 morning in Hyderabad, Telangana, He was 88.
  • Rao was undergoing treatment at Star Hospital in Hyderabad and breathed his last at 3:45 am. ETV, Telangana, one of Rao's group channels, said he was under treatment for the past few days.
  • Born on November 16, 1936. He was an Indian businessman, media entrepreneur, and film producer. He was head of the Ramoji Group which owns the world’s largest film production facility Ramoji Film City, Eenadu newspaper, ETV Network of TV channels, film production company Usha Kiran Movies.

Chandrababu Naidu to take oath as Andhra Pradesh CM on June 12

  • Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu will take oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister at 9.27am on June 12.
  • The ceremony will be held near Kesarapalli IT Park at Gannavaram in Krishna District, said the Chief Minister's Office.
  • Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party contested the Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls and Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Andhra Chamber of Commerce inks MoU with Atal Incubation Centre, Anna University

  • The Andhra Chamber of Commerce has signed a memorandum of understanding with Atal Incubation Centre at the Anna University Incubation Foundation here aimed at boosting the start-up ecosystem and aspiring entrepreneurs.
  • As per the joint initiative, the strategic tie-up would help both the partners to leverage their strengths and reach out to a wider audience with the Atal Incubation Centre, Anna University Incubation Foundation.

EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2024 to Vellayan Subbiah

  • Indian entrepreneur Vellayan Subbiah was conferred the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2024 at a ceremony held in Monaco's Salle des Etoiles. Vellayan Subbiah became the fourth Indian to win this prestigious award in its 24 years of history. He joined the illustrious list of NR Narayana Murthy of Infosys, Uday Kotak of Kotak Finance, and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon Limited.
  • At present, Vellayan Subbiah is the Executive Vice Chairman of Tube Investments of India (TII) and the Chairman of the Non-Banking Finance Company Cholamandalam (Chola) Investment and Finance Limited. 

SEBI Wins The “Best Conduct of Business Regulator” Award In The Asia-Pacific Region

  • India’s capital market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has been awarded the Asia-Pacific region’s “Best Conduct of Business Regulator” title, according to The Asian Banker.
  • This prize, which was presented at a Hong Kong event, demonstrates the significance of SEBI in enhancing the regulations governing the Indian capital markets. On behalf of the organisation, SEBI Permanent Member Kamlesh Chandra Varshney accepted the prize.

PNB plans to open representative office in Dubai

  • State-owned Punjab National Bank plans to open a representative office in Dubai, as part of its plan to expand its global footprint.
  • The bank has got the board of directors' approval for opening a representative office in Dubai and the process is on for seeking regulatory clearance, PNB managing director Atul Kumar Goel said.
