- Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh on October 07, 2024, inaugurated the DefConnect 4.0 at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt, a significant step towards advancing indigenous innovation and celebrating the growing defence ecosystem of the country. The event is being organised by Innovations for Defence Excellence - Defence Innovation Organisation (iDEX-DIO), under Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Unveils GREEN Meghalaya Plus Scheme
- Conrad K Sangma, Meghalaya Chief Minister launched the GREEN (Grassroot level Response Towards Ecosystem Enhancement and Nurturing) Meghalaya Plus (GMP) Scheme in the first week of October in the state. The main purpose for the launching of the scheme is for conservation and enhancement of forest cover.

World Cotton Day
- World Cotton day is celebrated on 7 October as a global celebration of cotton and its stakeholders, from field to fabric and beyond. At the initiative of the Cotton-4 (Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali), the World Trade Organisation made the launch of World Cotton Day on 7 October 2019.
- In August 2021, the General Assembly of the United Nations recognised the unique benefits of cotton by proclaiming 7 October of each year as World Cotton Day.
World Habitat Day
- World Habitat Day is marked on the first Monday of October each year, and is recognized by the United Nations to reflect on the state of towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter, This year the World Habitat Day will be held on October 7.

Maharashtra govt and SAI sign MoU to establish National Centre of Excellence in Mumbai

LIC Increases Stake in Bank of Maharashtra
- The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has significantly boosted its stake in Bank of Maharashtra from 4.05% to 7.10%, via QIP as disclosed in an exchange filing on October 5, 2024.
