India to host Malabar 2024 Naval exercise with Australia and Japan

  • The Maritime Exercise Malabar 2024 is set to take place from October 8 to 18, beginning with the Harbour Phase in Visakhapatnam, followed by the Sea Phase. Hosted by India, this year’s exercise will see participation from Australia, Japan, and the United States.

PM Modi unveiled multiple projects worth Rs 56,000 crore in Maharashtra

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Maharashtra on Saturday (5 October) where unveiled multiple development projects worth over Rs 56,000 crore. He begin his visit in Washim, where he inaugurated the Banjara Virasat Museum, celebrating the rich heritage of the Banjara community.
  • Later in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated and lay foundation stones for various projects worth over Rs 32,800 crore in Thane. In Mumbai, he opened the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Aarey JVLR section of the Mumbai Metro Line 3, which has been built at a cost of approximately Rs 14,120 crore. 

India successfully test fires indigenous VSHORADS missiles in Rajasthan’s Pokhran

  • India has successfully conducted three flight tests of the indigenously developed Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles at the Pokhran firing ranges in Rajasthan, marking a significant achievement in the country’s defense capabilities. 

PM Modi launches Unified Genomic Chip for cattle

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Unified Genomic Chip’ - aimed at helping farmers identify high-quality cattle early and enhance dairy farming efficiency in India. The chip comes in two versions: the ‘Gau Chip’ for cattle and the ‘Mahish Chip’ for buffalo.
  • Developed by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), the purpose of this chip is to help the farmers to make informed decisions on animal selection by identifying young, high-quality bulls at an early age, 

IAF Conducts Mega Air Show at Chennai’s Marina Beach

  • Indian Air Force conducted a mega air show at Marina Beach in Chennai today (October 6 ). The airshow is a prelude to the celebration of the 92nd Annual Airforce Day. The aerobatics show with 72 aircraft draw approx 15 lakh spectators aiming to create a record in the Limca Record Book this year. Fighter jets included Tejas, Mirage, Sukhoi 30 MKI, Jaguar and Poseidon aircraft and the latest Prachand helicopter took part in the thrilling airshow.

Mumbai Clinches 15th Irani Cup Title after 27-Year Wait

  • Mumbai bagged their 15th Irani Cup title by defeating the Rest Of India (ROI) side on the fifth and final day in Lucknow on Saturday (5 October ). Mumbai’s last title victory came during the 1997-98 season and since then, the domestic giants appeared in eight more finals but could not succeed.

  • World Cerebral Palsy Day is observed every year on October 6. It's a day to recognize the 18 million people worldwide who live with cerebral palsy (CP) and to raise awareness and support for the cause. 

German-American Day

  • German-American Day is a holiday in the United States, observed annually on October 6 under Pub. L. 100–104, 101 Stat. 721. It celebrates German-American heritage and commemorates the founding of Germantown, Pennsylvania, in 1683.
