CM Mamata inaugurates ITC's global Centre of excellence for AI in Kolkata

  • Diversified conglomerate ITC Limited announced the opening of its global Centre of excellence for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the metropolis, The Centre was virtually inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during the Bengal Global Business Summit.

India’s First AI University to Open in Maharashtra

  • Maharashtra is set to establish India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) university, marking a significant step in advancing AI education, research, and innovation. A task force has been formed to plan and implement the project, bringing together experts from academia, industry, and government. The university aims to promote research and development, enhance technological innovation, support skill development, and shape AI policies.

In 38th National Games Haryana’s Anmol Kharb Clinches Gold in Women’s Singles

  • Shuttler Anmol Kharb of Haryana continued her impressive run to win gold in women’s singles, while Tamil Nadu’s K. Satish Kumar claimed the men’s singles as well as the doubles title at the 38th National Games at Dehradun today. Kharb defeated top seed Anupama Upadhyaya in straight games 21-16, 22-20 in the women’s singles final. In the men’s singles final, Satish Kumar defeated Suryaksh Rawat 21-17, 21-17 to claim gold in men’s singles.

Wriddhiman Saha Retires from Cricket

  • Former India wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. The 40-year-old cricketer, known for his exceptional wicketkeeping skills and resilience, played his final match for Bengal against Punjab in the Ranji Trophy Elite 2024-25 Group C encounter, He represented India in 40 Tests and 9 ODIs.

Veteran Akashvani news reader Venkatraman, passed away

  • Veteran News Reader of Akashvani, Venkatraman passed away in Chennai. The 102-year-old was the first voice in Tamil to convey the momentous news of India attaining Independence from Delhi in the early hours of 15th of August 1947. The news was first broadcast in Tamil for Radio Ceylon at 5.45 am.
