3 depots for the Vande Bharat Sleeper project will be set by Indo-Russian JV

  • The Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur, which has been taken over by Indo-Russian joint venture Kinet for manufacturing Vande Bharat Sleeper train sets, is currently undergoing equipment installation and will be equipped with a state-of-art assembly line, a top Kinet official stated, Kinet has been established by Indian PSU Rail Vikas Nigam and Russian transportation company Transmashholding (TMH).

Google signs Agreement with AP govt to accelerate AI adoption and innovation

  • Andhra Pradesh has entered into an agreement with Google under which the tech giant will help the state in adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in various fields including healthcare, and also give a fillip to the local startup ecosystem there. 

PM inaugurated Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav

  • In line with his commitment to showcase the cultural vibrancy of Northeast India, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav today (6th December) at around 3 PM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

India Wins 5th Junior Hockey Asia Cup, Beats Pakistan 5-3

  • The Indian hockey team defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 5-3 in the final of Men's Junior Asia Cup 2024 hockey in Muscat, Oman on Wednesday. With it, India claimed a record-extending fifth title. Araijeet Singh Hundal was the hero for the winning side with four goals while Dilraj Singh hit the remaining one goal.

HSBC appoints Lisa McGeough to lead US biz as CEO Elhedery shuffles leaders

  • HSBC promoted Lisa McGeough to become its president and CEO for the United States at the start of next year, the bank said on Thursday in a statement first seen by Reuters.
  • The appointment comes as part of a sweeping overhaul by new CEO Georges Elhedery, who has made a raft of leadership changes and split the lender's geographic footprint into East and West. 

Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maharashtra CM for the third time

  • Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time on 5th December 2024. In a ceremony held at the Azad Maidan of Mumbai, Governor C P Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to Devendra Fadnavis. He succeeded his alliance partner Eknath Shinde of the Shiv Sena as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra. 

Anurag Mehrotra, VP of International Biz at Tata Motors resigns

  • Anurag Mehrotra, Vice President of International Business and Strategy of Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Business, has resigned. The Former MD of Ford India is expected to join JSW MG Motor in February and assume the role of the CEO.

  • Mahaparinirvan Diwas is being observed today (December 6) marking the 69th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. On this solemn day, the Nation pays homage to Babasaheb Ambedkar by reflecting on his teachings and commitment to building a just and inclusive society.
  • Born on 14 April 1891 in the town and military cantonment of Mhow (now officially known as Dr Ambedkar Nagar, Madhya Pradesh) He was the 14th and last child of Ramji Maloji Sakpal, an army officer who held the rank of Subedar, and Bhimabai Sakpal, daughter of Laxman Murbadkar.

Air Help 2024 Report

  • India's IndiGo Airlines ranks 103rd out of 109 airlines, making it one of the worst performers. Meanwhile, Tata's Air India fares slightly better, standing at 61st. At the top of the list, Brussels Airlines has been named the best airline, followed by Qatar Airways according to the 2024 Air Help Score report.

SEBI Fines Reliance Securities ₹9 Lakh for Rule Violations

  • SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) has imposed a ₹9 lakh penalty on Reliance Securities Ltd (RSL) for breaching stock broker norms and market regulations following an inspection. The action was triggered after a review of RSL’s records and documents by SEBI, NSE, and BSE from April 2022 to December 2023.
