EAM Jaishankar inaugurated new Indian consulate in Brisbane

  • External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar inaugurated the new Consulate General of India in Brisbane during his five-day visit to Australia, the consulate is expected to play a vital role in addressing the needs of the expanding Indian community in Queensland, where a considerable number of Indian students are pursuing higher education. 

India and Algeria sign the MoU on bilateral defence cooperation

  • India and Algeria signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral defence cooperation. The MoU will elevate the defence partnership between both nations, fostering mutual understanding and enhancing strategic interests. It was signed by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Chief of Staff of the People's National Army Saíd Chanegriha in the presence of military and officials. 

Abu Dhabi & Microsoft partner on AI push to make energy mkt more efficient

  • Abu Dhabi's main oil company and AIQ agreed on a deal to use artificial intelligence to make the energy industry more efficient.
  • Abu Dhabi National Oil Co will for the first time use agentic AI — developed by AIQ in collaboration with Microsoft Corp. and G42 — to analyze massive amounts of data to identify operational improvements in the energy industry. 

India re-elected as President of International Solar Alliance till 2026

  • India and France have been elected, President and co-president of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for a two-year term, extending to 2026. In a recent reshuffle of ISA leadership, Ashish Khanna is set to succeed Dr. Ajay Mathur as ISA Director General, assuming the role in 2025.

Bankhandi in Himachal will become the first zoo in India to get IGBC certification

  • Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the upcoming 'Durgesh Aranya Zoological Park' at Bankhandi in Kangra district will become India's first zoo to receive certification from the Indian Green Building Council for its sustainable and eco-friendly initiative. 

Bharat Forge wins major contract as the lowest bidder for Indian Army's ATAGS howitzers

  • Pune-based Bharat Forge Limited has emerged as the lowest bidder in the Indian Army's high-stakes contract to procure 307 Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems (ATAGS), developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). 

Uttar Pradesh government partners NTPC to float solar power plants

  • Uttar Pradesh is planning to set up floating solar power plants in partnership with top energy players, including National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), to expand its renewable energy inventory.

Anish Sarkar Becomes Youngest-Rated FIDE Chess Player Globally

  • Anish Sarkar of Kolkata, West Bengal, has become the youngest-rated FIDE chess player in the world. At the age of three years, eight months, and 19 days, Anish secured a FIDE rating of 1555.
  • The International Chess Federation, known by its French acronym FIDE, is the world's governing body for chess. It assigns ratings or points based on players' performance in FIDE-approved chess tournaments.

SEBI directs Embassy Reit to suspend CEO Aravind Maiya

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) directed the Embassy Office Parks Management Services, manager to the Embassy Real Estate Investment Trust (Reit), to suspend its chief executive officer Aravind Maiya for lapses in the "fit and proper" criteria.

  • World Tsunami Awareness Day is an annual event held on 5 November to raise awareness of the dangerous effects of tsunamis and the importance of tsunami preparedness and early warning of tsunamis.
  • It was established in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 70/23.
