Dubai to host the inaugural Global Justice, Love & Peace Summit

  • Dubai is preparing to host the inaugural Global Justice, Love & Peace Summit on April 12-13, 2025, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City. The event, organized by the I am Peacekeeper Movement, will bring together 2,800 peacekeepers and 72 distinguished speakers, including 10 Nobel Laureates, heads of state, and religious leaders. 

Bart De Wever was sworn in as Belgium’s New Prime Minister

  • Conservative political leader Bart De Wever was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Belgium by King Phillippe on 3rd February 2025 in a ceremony at the royal palace in Brussels.
  • Bart De Wever takes over as the Prime Minister from Alexander De Croo, whose seven-party coalition took 493 days to form a government in 2019-20, De Croo stayed on as caretaker leader after the June 2024 elections.

India’s First White Tiger Breeding Centre to Come up in MP

  • The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has approved India’s first white tiger breeding centre in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district. This initiative marks a significant step in wildlife conservation, especially since Rewa is historically linked to the last known wild white tiger. The project, initially approved in principle in 2011, will be established in Govindgarh, near the state’s only white tiger safari in Mukundpur. 

Gujarat’s Guneri Village Named First Biodiversity Heritage Site

  • In a landmark decision to conserve unique ecosystems, the Gujarat government has officially declared the inland mangrove in Guneri village, located in Kutch district, as the state’s first Biodiversity Heritage Site (BHS). 

Army Partners with IIT Guwahati for Bamboo Bunkers

  • The Indian Army has partnered with IIT Guwahati to develop bamboo-based composite bunkers as an alternative to traditional construction materials. The project aims to enhance sustainability, reduce weight, and improve deployability in high-altitude regions like Arunachal Pradesh. 

Aero India Show 2025

  • Aero India 2025 is set to take place from February 10–14, 2025, at the Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru, Aero India is India’s largest aerospace and defence exhibition, attracting global aviation enthusiasts, industry leaders, and defence experts. Organized biennially by the Ministry of Defence, the event serves as a dynamic platform for showcasing military and commercial aviation advancements.

Horst Koehler, Ex-German President and IMF Chief, Passed Away at 81

  • Horst Koehler, the former President of Germany (2004–2010) and a respected global policymaker with a special focus on Africa, passed away at the age of 81 after a short illness. Born in 1943 in German-occupied Poland and raised in refugee camps before settling in Ludwigsburg.

Shashank Anand appointed as new IG of BSF Jammu Frontier

  • Haryana Cadre IPS officer Shashank Anand has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) for the Jammu Frontier, which covers the International Border from Jammu to Kathua. He takes over from IG D.K. Boora, who led the frontier since October 2021.

International Development Week 2025: 2nd to 8th February

  • International Development Week (IDW) is an annual event celebrated during the first full week of February. In 2025, IDW will be observed from February 2nd to February 8th. This week-long celebration is a significant initiative promoted by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and aims to highlight Canada’s contributions to global development efforts.
  • Theme - Each year, Global Affairs Canada selects a theme for International Development Week that aligns with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While the official theme for IDW 2025 has not yet been announced, it is expected to reflect Canada’s commitment to addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change.
