India and UNESCO to Co-Organize 2024 Chief Science Advisers Roundtable

• India and UNESCO Co-organising the 2024 Edition of Chief Science Advisers Roundtable (CSAR) in Paris, France on 6 September 2024 Delegations of 28 countries, led by their Chief Science Advisers or nominated equivalents, and 6 international organisations will join this roundtable to discuss. 

 IIT Delhi opens first int'l campus with batch of 52 students in Abu Dhabi

• His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, visited the Abu Dhabi campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi) on September 2, 2024, and blessed its first batch of undergraduate students, marking a historic milestone in international engineering education under the prestigious brand of IIT. The inaugural undergraduate batch of 52 students will pursue B.Tech degrees in Computer Science and Engineering, and Energy Engineering. 

India and Kenya holds 3rd Joint Defence Cooperation Committee meeting

• The third edition of Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting between India and Kenya was held in New Delhi on September 3, 2024.The two countries discussed a wide range of avenues for defence cooperation in areas like military cooperation, training, defence industries, R&D etc.

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches AgriSURE Fund

• Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, launched the AgriSURE Scheme in New Delhi. The AgriSURE Fund, formally known as the Agri Fund for Start-ups & Rural Enterprises, is a ₹750 crore blended capital fund aimed at fostering innovation and growth in the agricultural and rural start-up ecosystem. With contributions from the Government of India, NABARD, and private investors. 

Nitin Gadkari, Hardeep Puri inaugurates India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo

• Union Minister for Road Transports and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister for Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri jointly inaugurated the India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo 2024 in New Delhi.

World Bank raises Indian growth forecast to 7 % in FY 25

• The World Bank has raised the growth forecast for the Indian economy in the current financial year (2024-25) to 7 per cent from its earlier projection of 6.6 per cent. The upward revision in the World Bank forecast occurred after the Indian economy recorded its lowest quarterly growth in fifteen months. The Indian economy grew by 6.7 per cent during the Q1(April-June) of the 2024-25 fiscal year.
