- Duma Boko, the presidential candidate of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), was declared Botswana’s sixth president. Botswana’s Chief Justice, Terence Rannowane, announced on national television.
Collins Dictionary Names “Brat” 2024 Word of the Year
- Collins Dictionary announced “brat” as its Word of the Year for 2024. The word, redefined by British singer Charli XCX and popularized through her album of the same name, has come to represent a “confident, independent, and hedonistic attitude.” Originally used to describe a misbehaving child, “brat” now embodies a culturally resonant spirit of self-expression and rebellion that resonates globally.

Wriddhiman Saha announces retirement from cricket
- Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has announced his retirement from cricket, saying that the ongoing Ranji Trophy season will be his last final one. The 40-year-old Bengal wicketkeeper has appeared in 40 Tests and nine ODIs since his international debut in 2010.

- Indian table tennis star Harmeet Desai claimed dual titles at the WTT Feeder Caracas in Venezuela today, winning both the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles events. In Mixed Doubles, Desai and partner Krittwika Roy edged past Cuba’s Jorge Campos and Daniela Fonseca Carrazana in a tight 3-2 final. Earlier, they defeated China’s Wang Kaibo and Liu Xinran in straight sets to reach the final.
India bags 17 medals at Under-19 World Boxing Championships
- India delivered an impressive performance at the Under-19 World Boxing Championships in Colorado, USA, securing 17 medals, including four golds, across the men’s and women’s categories. The Indian squad, featuring 19 boxers, 9 men and 10 women, saw 12 athletes reach the finals, with every female boxer winning a medal.

7th Session of International Solar Alliance Assembly to begin in New Delhi
- The Seventh Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly will be inaugurated at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today (4 November). The ISA Assembly will deliberate on initiatives of the International Solar Alliance, ISA that impact energy access, security, and traditions with a focus on empowering member countries to adopt solar energy and mobilize finance to speed up solar deployment.
