India’s tech giant TCS partners with Bank of Bhutan to modernize its digital system

  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced a strategic partnership with the Bank of Bhutan to modernise the lender’s digital system and improve customer service.
  • The Indian IT company will implement its TCS BaNCS Global Banking Platform to optimise the bank’s operations and integrate with various public services within the digital ecosystem of Bhutan. 

China and Nepal sign nine-point MoU during PM Oli’s Beijing visit

  • Nepal’s Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on Tuesday in Beijing, where the two nations signed a nine-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade promotion and technical assistance. The signing took place during the ongoing four-day visit of Nepal’s Prime Minister to China.

  • Union Minister of State for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Sh. Kirti Vardhan Singh launched 'Nano Bubble Technology' for cleaning and purifying water of National Zoological Park, Delhi to promote the health of aquatic animals. 

Ratapani Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh notified as the 57th Tiger Reserve of the country

  • Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, informed the Nation about the notification of the Ratapani Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh, as the 57th Tiger Reserve of the country.

Pavan Kampelli secures the Bronze medal in e-football

  • India’s Pavan Kampelli has secured a bronze medal in the e-football event at the 2024 Asian Esports Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • This is the first-ever medal for India at the Asian Esports Games. On the way to the bronze, Pavan also defeated Asgard Azizi of Team Indonesia by 2-1. Pavan, who is popularly known as ‘Mr. Tomboy’ had recently emerged as the winner of the WAVES Esports Championship 2025 for e-Football last month.

ISRO launched Proba-3 mission satellites on December 4 from Sriharikota

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the PSLV-C59/Proba-3 mission on Wednesday at 4:06 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
  • This mission will use the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) to place satellites weighing approximately 550 kg into a highly elliptical orbit, capturing the attention of space enthusiasts worldwide. 

India has introduced its first indigenous antibiotic, Nafithromycin

  • India has launched the first indigenous antibiotic for drug-resistant infections. Known as 'Nafithromycin,' the drug has been developed by researchers from the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a unit of the Department of Biotechnology of India.

International Day of Banks

  • International Day of Banks is annually commemorated on December 4, all over the world to acknowledge the role of banks in providing people with important information for their financial security. It commemorates the 2015 United Nations General Assembly resolution 74/245 which was passed on December 19, 2019.
  • Theme - The theme for 2024 is “Empowering Sustainable Development Through Finance." This theme focuses on the role of financial institutions in supporting the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

Indian Navy Day

  • Navy Day in India is celebrated on 4 December every year to recognize the achievements and role of the Indian Navy to the country. 4 December was chosen as on that day in 1971, during Operation Trident, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels including PNS Khaibar, defeating Pakistani Navy.[2][3] On this day, those killed in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 are also remembered.
