Construction of Tata’s Semiconductor Unit Begins in Assam

  • Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the construction work for Tata’s semiconductor unit at Morigaon in Assam has begun on Saturday. Sharing more details about the plant with media in New Delhi, Mr Vaishnaw said that this unit will be set up with an investment of 27,000 crore rupees and will generate 15 thousand direct and 11 to 13 thousand indirect jobs. 

Two-day Akashvani Music Concert -2024 held in Delhi

  • The Akashvani Music Concert -2024 was organised in New Delhi on Saturday. The two-day concert is being held at Akashvani’s Rang Bhavan Auditorium. Renowned artist Pandit Rajendra Prasanna performed, captivating the audience with his melodious flute while Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi enchanted with his baritone. Maestros such as Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Salil Bhatt, Pandit Sajan Mishra and Svaransh Mishra will perform tomorrow from 5:30 PM onwards. 

HM Amit Shah to inaugurate E-Evidence & E-Summon Systems in Chandigarh

  • In Chandigarh, Home Ministry Amit Shah will inaugurate the e-evidence, Nyay Setu, Nyay Shruti and e-summon systems built to augment our criminal justice apparatus. He will also inaugurate the 24×7 water supply project under the Smart City Mission in Manimajra.

Manu Bhakar finishes fourth in final of Women’s 25 meters pistol;

  • On the 8th Day of the Paris Olympics 2024 today, In Shooting, Manu Bhaker finished at 4th position in the Women’s 25 meters pistol event. She missed out on a hat trick and finished her Olympic journey with two historic bronze medals. With four athletes left in the fray, Manu was tied at 28 points with Hungary’s Veronica Major. And in the five-shot shoot-off, Manu missed twice, while Major missed only once.

NIT-C Launches ‘Nivahika’ Web Portal for Data Management

  • The National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C) has launched ‘Nivahika’, a cutting-edge web portal, that is expected to revolutionise how the institute handles and reports data, Inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NITC, in a ceremony at the Senate Hall, the portal is set to transform how the Institute handles and reports data.

IAF’s Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla picked as ‘Prime Astronaut’ for Indo-US Mission

  • Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla has been selected as the prime astronaut for the upcoming Indo-US mission to the International Space Station (ISS), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced. 

DG SSB Daljit Singh Chawdhary takes the charge of Director General, BSF

  • Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Daljit Singh Chawdhary has taken over the additional charge of Director General, Border Security Force. Chawdhary is a senior IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He assumed the charge of DG SSB in January this year.

32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) at National Agricultural Science Centre (NASC) Complex, New Delhi today. The theme for this year's conference is, “Transformation Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems.” It aims to tackle the pressing need for sustainable agriculture in the face of global challenges such as climate change, natural resource degradation, rising production costs and conflicts. Around 1,000 delegates from around 75 countries took part in the conference.

IRDAI Fines HDFC Life Rs 2 Crore for Violations

  • The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has imposed a penalty of Rs 2 crore on HDFC Life Insurance for violating norms. The penalty must be paid within 45 days from the receipt of the order, and additional directives have also been issued, the regulator cited violations of norms related to policyholders' interests, web aggregators, and insurance distributors.
