Claudia Sheinbaum sworn in as Mexico’s first woman President

  • Claudia Sheinbaum was sworn in as Mexico’s first woman President, The 62-year-old former Mexico City mayor and ruling party heavyweight will take office in the presence of foreign dignitaries including Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and US First Lady Jill Biden. 

Anil Ambani's copartners DHI to set up 1.2 GW solar, hydro power in Bhutan

  • Marking its first foreign venture, Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group has entered into a partnership with Druk Holding and Investments (DHI), the commercial arm of the Royal Government of Bhutan, to jointly develop solar and hydropower projects in the neighbouring country.

Mankind Pharma purchase Bharat Serums for $1.6 bn

  • Competition Commission of India, India’s anti-trust regulator approved Mankind Pharma Ltd.’s Rs 13,630 crore ($1.6 billion) acquisition of vaccine-maker Bharat Serums and Vaccines Ltd. 

Amit Shah Inaugurates ₹446 Crore Development Projects in Ahmedabad

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation worth over 446 crore in Ahmedabad today (October 3). Mr. Shah, who is on a visit to his home state, launched several projects in his parliamentary constituency, Gandhinagar, which include the newly built telerehabilitation centre at GMERS hospital in Sola.

Kho Kho World Cup to Debut in India in 2025

  • Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) and the International Kho Kho Federation have announced that the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup will take place in India in 2025. The event will witness the participation of 24 countries from 6 continents and will feature 16 men’s and as many as women’s teams. 

ICC bans Sri Lanka’s Praveen Jayawickrama for Breaching ICC Anti-Corruption Code

  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned Sri Lankan player Praveen Jayawickrama from all forms of cricket for one year after he admitted breaching the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code (ACU). The 26-year-old left-arm spinner admitted to breaching the ICC’s code of obstructing or delaying an investigation that may be carried out by the ACU, including concealing, tampering with, or destroying any information that may be relevant to the investigation. 

ISSF Junior World Championship: Divanshi Wins Gold in Women’s 25m Pistol

  • In Shooting, India added 5 more Gold medals to its tally on Day four of the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru. Divanshi bagged a Gold in the women’s 25m pistol. She defeated Italy’s Cristina Magnani by two points in the final with a score of 35.

2024 edition of annual apex-level international conference IPRD to held in New Delhi

  • The 2024 edition of the annual apex-level international conference of the Indian Navy, the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD), will be held in New Delhi starting today (October 3). The theme of the three-day conference is “Resource Geopolitics and Security in the Indo-Pacific.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the conference tomorrow. 

17th India-Germany MCSG Meeting Held in Berlin

  • The 17th edition of the India-Germany Military Cooperation sub-group (MCSG) meeting was held in Berlin. Discussions were focused on new initiatives to further enhance the scope of bilateral military cooperation and to strengthen ongoing defence engagements across the spectrum.
