Aditya Birla Group Launches Jewellery Brand Indriya

  • Aditya Birla Group, another prominent business house of the country, has entered into the branded retail jewelery business with the brand ‘Indriya’, The brand name ‘Indriya’ has its origins in Sanskrit, deeply rooted in India’s rich cultural heritage. Indriya is an ode to the five senses. The name reflects the brand’s philosophy of creating jewellery that awakens and delights all five senses, 

Jia Rai: Youngest & fastest para-swimmer to cross the English channel

  • 16-year-old Jiya Rai of Mumbai became the youngest and the fastest para swimmer in the world to cross the English Channel, She started her 34-kilometer swim from Abbot's Cliff in England on 28 July 2024 and reached her final destination, Pointe de la Courte-Dune, in France on 29 July. 

Indian Army Launches E-SeHAT Tele-Consultancy for Veterans

  • The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) has launched the Electronic Services e-Health Assistance and Tele-consultation (E-SeHAT) module. The E-SeHAT Tele-consultancy would enable ECHS beneficiaries in obtaining online Tele-consultation for medical treatment from their homes without visiting the ECHS Polyclinic. 

BFI Sets Up the National Basketball Academy

  • The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has set up the National basketball academy in collaboration with Corvuss American Academy in Mumbai. For a start, the Academy will run with 30 boys and 30 girls from the school. There will be a nationwide hunt for talent to select 30 boys and 30 girls for the academy.

Rohan Bopanna retires from Indian tennis After Paris 2024 Olympics

  • Rohan Bopanna, one of India’s most accomplished tennis players, has announced his retirement from from Indian tennis following his exit from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
  • Bopanna represented India in the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, where he won the gold medal with Rutuja Bhosale in the mixed doubles event, In September last year, he brought an end to his 21-year Davis Cup career after helping India beat Morocco in their World Group II match. 

Indian team shines at the International Physics Olympiad 2024

  • Indian students have secured two gold and three silver medals at the 54th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2024 held between July 21 and July 29 in Isfahan, Iran.
  • Overall, India was placed in the fourth position, jointly with Vietnam. China bagged the top spot, followed by Russia and Romania in second and third positions, respectively.

SEBI Launches AI Chatbot 'SEVA'   

  • Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India launched a chatbot, Sebi’s Virtual Assistant (SEVA) an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based conversation platform, for investors, the chatbot is presently enabled to answer questions relating to general information on the securities market, the latest master circulars, grievance redressal process, etc. 

Single National Software Network for PACS Computerization

  • Government of India is implementing the Project for Computerization of functional PACS with a total financial outlay of ₹2,516 Crore, which entails bringing all the functional PACS onto an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) based common national software, linking them with NABARD through State Cooperative Banks (StCBs) and District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs). The National Level Common Software for the project has been developed by NABARD and 25,904 PACS have been onboarded on ERP software in 27 States/ UTs as on 21.07.2024. 

Dharmendra Pradhan launches NATS 2.0 portal 

  • Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has launched the National Apprenticeship and Training Scheme (NATS) 2.0 Portal in New Delhi. As part of this initiative, Rs100 crore in stipends has been disbursed to young graduates and diploma holders through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Mohsin Naqvi Set to Become President of the Asian Cricket Council

  • Pakistan Cricket Board's incumbent chairman Mohsin Naqvi is set to become the next president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) later this year as per its rotation policy. The matter of the president's post was discussed at a recent ACC meeting with Naqvi in line to become the next head.
