World’s First Om-Shaped Temple Inaugurated in Rajasthan

• The World’s first-ever temple designed in the iconic Om shape has been inaugurated in the village of Jadan, Pali district of Rajasthan. This architectural masterpiece, spanning across 250 acres.
• The ‘Om Aakar’ temple, following the Nagara style commonly seen in North India.

PR Sreejesh and Camila Caram Appointed Co-Chairs of FIH Athletes Committee

• The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has appointed former Indian men’s hockey team captain and goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and Chile’s Camila Caram as co-chairs of the FIH Athletes Committee.
• The Fédération Internationale de Hockey sur Gazon (FIH) was founded by Paul Léautey on January 7, 1924.
• In 1982, the International Federation of Women’s Hockey Associations merged with the FIH.
• The FIH has 140 member countries.
• The headquarters of FIH is located in Lausanne, Switzerland.
• The current FIH President is Tayyab Ikram. 

OBITUARY

Legendary Actor Louis Gossett Jr. Passes Away at 87

• Louis Gossett Jr., the first Black man to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, has sadly passed away at the age of 87.
• His most notable achievement was winning the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1983 for his role as a Marine drill instructor in the film “An Officer and a Gentleman.

Justice Mohammad Yousuf Wani Sworn in as Additional Judge of J&K and Ladakh High Court

• Justice Mohammad Yousuf Wani was administered the oath of office as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
• The oath was administered by Chief Justice N. Kotiswar Singh in Srinagar.

International Day of Zero Waste 2024

• On December 14, 2022, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution to have an International Day of Zero Waste celebrated every year on March 30th.

• Manoj K Tiwari, Director of IIM Mumbai, and Mr. Francois Chopard of Starburst solidified the partnership through a signing ceremony at IIM Mumbai on March 26, 2024. 

SIA-India and ABRASAT Sign MoU to Boost Space Sector Advancements

• The SatCom Industry Association of India (SIA-India) and ABRASAT, the Brazilian Satellite Communications Association, have joined forces to propel advancements in the space sector.
• This strategic partnership aims to foster collaboration and drive innovative ventures and technological cooperation between India and Brazil.

Income Tax Department Imposes ₹564.44 Crore Penalty on BoI

• Bank of India (BoI) has disclosed the receipt of an order from the Income Tax Department, Assessment Unit, concerning the Assessment Year (AY) 2018-19.
• The order imposes a penalty of ₹564.44 crore on various disallowances made by the bank. 

India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves Reach Record High

• India’s foreign exchange reserves have soared to a new peak, reaching $642.631 billion in the week ending March 22, marking the fifth consecutive week of increase, according to the latest data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
