EAM Jaishankar unveils world's first postal stamp featuring Ram Lalla in Laos

  • During his visit to Laos, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar along with his Laotian counterpart unveiled a postage stamp set featuring Ram Lalla, the deity of Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The latest stamp set is the first in the world to feature Ram Lalla. The stamp set includes two stamps, one of Ram Lalla and the other of Lord Buddha of Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of Laos. 

3 Indian attractions in Time list of World’s 100 greatest places to visit

  • Naar restaurant in Kasauli, Manam Chocolate factory in Hyderabad and Museum of Solutions in Mumbai are the three attractions from India that feature in Time magazine’s list of the World’s 100 greatest places to visit in 2024. 

Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro wins third term as President

  • Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro won re-election with 51.2 per cent of votes cast the electoral council announced, after a campaign tainted by claims of opposition intimidation and fears of fraud.
  • Elvis Amoroso, president of the National Electoral Council, told reporters that 44.2 per cent of votes had gone to opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia who had been leading in polls.

  • The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) has launched the One DAE One Subscription (ODOS) initiative to provide access to national and international research papers and scientific journals to thousands of scientists, engineers, and young students across the country.

India to host 2025 and Bangladesh 2027 edition of the Asia Cup: Men’s Cricket

  • The Asian Cricket Council has announced the host of the forthcoming biennial Men’s Cricket Asia Cup to be held in 2025 and 2027, India will host the 2025 edition in T20 format, and Bangladesh will host the 2027 edition in One-Day International (ODI) format.

  • Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav launched Ideas4LiFE portal for inviting ideas related to products and services, which induce behavioral changes related to environment-friendly lifestyles in the presence of Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

World Day against Trafficking in Person

  • The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed annually on July 30 to raise awareness about human trafficking and to promote and protect the rights of trafficking victims.
  • Note - Focused on the same issue, eliminating human trafficking, modern-day slavery and exploitation, the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is separate and distinct from the United States' National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

  • In a ceremony to mark the International Meet of leading medical celebrities, professionals and Medicos from all over the country and abroad, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh was conferred the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of his exemplary dedication to the advancement of diabetology, diabetes care and diabetes research which earned him acknowledgement across the country and overseas. 

CWC Wins GEEF Global Water Tech Award 2024

  • The Central Water Commission (CWC) has been honoured with the GEEF Global WaterTech Award under the category ‘Water Department of the Year’ at the prestigious Global Water Tech Summit -2024 organized by the Global Energy and Environment Foundation (GEEF) in New Delhi.

BillDesk, Amazon Pay & Adyen Get Cross-Border Payment Aggregator Licence from RBI

  • While BillDesk’s IndiaIdeas.com received the licence for both exports and imports on July 29, the other two received the nod on July 25, Amazon Pay and Adyen India received the central bank’s approval for import-only cross border payment aggregator licence, With this, the trio has joined Cashfree Payments in the list of companies that have cross border PA licence.
