India & Oman agree to speed up talks on signing bilateral economic pact

  • India and Oman have agreed to expedite the discussions for an early signing of the bilateral Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is in advanced stages of negotiations.
  • Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal concluded a successful visit to Oman from January 27-28. CEPA will be a new milestone in bilateral trade relations and has the potential to significantly scale up two-way trade and investments.

International Saraswati Mahotsav kicks off in Haryana

  • The International Saraswati Mahotsav 2025 started on a grand scale in Haryana, following the success of the Geeta Jayanti celebrations. Dhuman Singh Kirmach, Vice President of the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board, announced in a press conference that the festival will take place from January 29 to February 4, 2025, at Pehowa Saraswati Tirtha Sthal. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the festival from Adibadri.

LTTS signs $80 million multi-year deal with US-based manufacturer

  • Engineering and technology services firm L&T Technology Services announced that it has bagged a multi-year, $80 million deal from a US-based manufacturer of industrial products and solutions.
  • This strategic partnership will accelerate the client’s digital transformation through the integration of advanced technologies, including connected products and the digital thread, paving the way for greater innovation at scale.

Dibrugarh To Become Assam's Second Capital

  • Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that Dibrugarh will be developed as the second capital of Assam. On the occasion of Republic Day, Mr Sarma said the district headquarters of Dibrugarh will be developed as the second capital of the state within the next three years.

Telangana CM inaugurates Experium Park

  • Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has inaugurated the Experium Park, emphasising the government’s commitment to developing eco-tourism, temple tourism and medical tourism in the state.

  • Chennai-headquartered software development major Zoho Corporation's chief executive officer (CEO) Sridhar Vembu announced that his co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey will take over as the new group CEO.
  • Vembu also added that he will be taking charge as the chief scientist of the company, in charge of the research and development (R&D) division.

Vedanta Resources appoints Deshnee Naidoo as first CEO to lead growth phase

  • Vedanta Resources Ltd (VRL), the parent firm of Mumbai-based mining conglomerate Vedanta Ltd, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Deshnee Naidoo as its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to spearhead its fresh growth phase.
  • Her appointment comes at a time when Vedanta Resources Ltd's Indian subsidiary, Vedanta Ltd, is demerging its businesses to unlock significant value for stakeholders.
