Kavelashvili was sworn in as Georgia's President

  • Former Manchester City footballer Mikheil Kavelashvili has been sworn in as the president of Georgia, Kavelashvili, a 53-year-old former national footballer, took his oath on the Bible and the Georgian constitution, swearing to serve the country’s interests amid a political crisis.

Kaamya Karthikeyan becomes the youngest female to scale the highest peaks on each of the 7 continents

  • Kaamya Karthikeyan, a 17-year-old student from Navy Children School in Mumbai, has made history by becoming the youngest female in the world to scale the highest peaks on each of the seven continents. 

India Launches UG Minor in Quantum Technologies

  • India’s first Undergraduate (UG) Minor Programme in Quantum Technologies, jointly launched by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Quantum Mission (NQM), is set to commence from the next academic session. 

15 tigers will be translocated to Rajasthan, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh by the Madhya Pradesh government

  • Madhya Pradesh to translocate 15 Tigers to Rajasthan, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The tigers will be translocated from Bandhavgarh, Panna, Kanha, and Pench tiger reserves. Translocation would be done under the animal exchange programme. It would be the biggest relocation of big cats from any state.

Lakshya Sen Wins Bronze at Inaugural King Cup International Badminton Open 2024

  • In Badminton, India’s Lakshya Sen clinched bronze at the inaugural King Cup International Badminton Open 2024 with a commanding victory over French shuttler Alex Lanier. Lakshya defeated Lanier 21-17, 21-11 in their bronze medal match today, marking a strong finish to his campaign.

ISRO to launch SpaDeX mission

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its year-end mission, the “Space Docking Experiment” (SpaDeX), The mission, aimed at advancing India’s capabilities in orbital docking, will lift off at 10:00:15 PM IST from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Former US President Jimmy Carter Passes Away

  • Former US President Jimmy Carter passed away at his home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100. He was the oldest living President of all time and the third U.S. President to visit India. Mr Carter had been suffering from an aggressive form of melanoma, a skin cancer, with tumors that had spread to his liver and brain.
