India to take part in Euronaval 2024 defence exhibition in France

  • India is among 104 countries invited to attend the world’s largest naval defence trade show that will be held in Paris from November 4-7, This year, there will be shows on innovative solutions to protect naval forces and maritime infrastructure against air and surface drones, next-generation anti-ship missiles, missile systems to destroy multiple hostile drones and many other latest features.

PM Modi inaugurates ‘Jamaica Marg’ in Delhi

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the road in front of the Jamaica High Commission in New Delhi has been named ‘Jamaica Marg’, highlighting strong India-Jamaica ties. 

Adani Power signs agreement to acquire Dahanu Power

  • Thermal power producer Adani Power has signed a business transfer agreement to acquire Dahanu Power for a cash consideration of Rs 815 crore.

India maintains unbeaten record to win the Men’s SAFF U17 Championship

  • The undefeated Indian football team lifted the 2024 Men’s SAFF U17 Championship by defeating Bangaldesh 2-0 in the final. The final was played at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan, on 30 September 2024. The Indian boy's football team, also famously known as Blue Colts, remained undefeated throughout the tournament.

Sony Pictures appoints Ravi Ahuja as new CEO

  • Japanese major Sony Group Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) announced that Tony Vinciquerra, chairman and CEO, will step down from his role on January 2, 2025, and Ravi Ahuja, the current chairman of global television studios and president and COO, will succeed him. 

Rediff.com appoints Vishal Mehta as chairman and Managing director

  • com, the news website that was acquired by payments solution provider Infibeam Avenues, on Tuesday announced the appointment of Vishal Mehta as its new Chairman and managing director (CMD). Mehta succeeds Ajit Balakrishnan, who had been the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Rediff since 1996. Mehta is also the CMD at Infibeam Avenues. 

Zoom named Michelle Chang as its CFO

  • Zoom Video Communications named veteran Microsoft executive Michelle Chang as its chief financial officer, effective Oct 7.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti

  • On October 2nd of every year, India celebrates Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti. The birthday of Shastri, remembered as an outstanding statesman and leader, coincides with Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, in whose honour this day is also celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti, India prepares to commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of one of its most revered leaders.

  • Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday in India, celebrated annually on 2 October to honor the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the key leaders of the Indian independence movement and a pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of nonviolence. It is one of the three national holidays in India. 

Swachh Bharat Diwas   

  • Swachh Bharat Mission, one of the first programmes announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he took office in 2014, completes 10 years on October 2 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024 programme on the occasion of 155th Gandhi Jayanti in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also launch and lay the foundation stone for several projects related to sanitation and cleanliness, worth over nine thousand six hundred crore rupees.
