USAID and Takeda Biopharma launch dengue prevention programme across India

• The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India announced the launch of a dengue prevention campaign titled ‘Haarega Dengue, Haraenge Hum’ across India.
• The campaign aims to educate schoolchildren and communities across Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh about how their actions can help prevent dengue and encourage people to adopt habits that can reduce the spread of vector-borne diseases.

Goa CM launches 'Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan' to boost solar rooftop installation in state

• Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant launched the 'Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan' in accordance with the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and disbursed the State Subsidy to the beneficiaries in Goa. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity. The scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore and is to be implemented till FY 2026-27.

Sri Lanka clinch maiden Women's Asia Cup title with comprehensive win over India

• Sri Lanka secured their first Women's Asia Cup title win, beating India with a clinical run-chase in front of home fans. This was also just the second time in their nine final appearances that India failed to win the Women's Asia Cup.
• Samarawickrama was the Player of the Match in the Final, while Chamari Athapaththu was the Player of the Tournament for her 304 runs and three wickets in the event. 

Manu Bhaker Scripts History, Becomes First Indian Woman to Win Medal In Shooting At Olympics

• Indian Shooter Manu Bhaker secured a bronze medal in the Women’s Air Pistol event at the Paris Olympics 2024, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting, Bhaker’s score of 221.7 points earned her the third place, marking India’s first medal in the ongoing Olympics. 

Lewis Hamilton Wins Belgian Grand Prix 2024

• Lewis Hamilton clinched victory at the 2024 Formula 1 Rolex Belgian Grand Prix under dramatic circumstances after his Mercedes team-mate George Russell, who initially crossed the finish line first, was disqualified due to a technical infringement. The disqualification stemmed from Russell’s car being found underweight in the post-race inspection. 

Nita Ambani Unveils India House at Paris 2024 Olympics

• Nita Ambani, IOC member and founder of the Reliance Foundation, inaugurated the India House during the Paris 2024 Olympics. This marks India’s first-ever country house at the Olympics, highlighting a significant milestone in India’s Olympic journey.

• Manoj Mittal has taken charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi), following his appointment by the Government of India. Prior to this, he was the managing director (MD) of Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI).
