ISRO and AlphaMERS Join Forces to Combat Marine Pollution Using AI
- The Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Ahmedabad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AlphaMERS Ltd., a Bengaluru-based firm. The agreement, finalized on July 4, 2024, aims to leverage both entities' resources to develop a sophisticated AI model. This AI system will be designed to detect and profile marine pollution in India's coastal waters, focusing on macro plastics and oil spills.

Satish Kumar appointed as Chairman and CEO of Railway Board
- Satish Kumar, an Indian Railway Management Service officer, has been appointed as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, effective from September 1. Kumar, who succeeds Jaya Verma Sinha upon her retirement on August 31, marks a historic first as the board’s first Scheduled Caste chairman and CEO.
Vice Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar Takes Over as DG of Project Seabird
- Vice Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar on Wednesday assumed duties of the director general of Project 'Seabird', with a charter to oversee largest defence infrastructure project currently progressing at the Karwar Naval Base, the Indian Navy said. He took charge from Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti.
