Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurates shooting range in Gwalior named after Manu Bhaker

  • Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated a 10m air pistol shooting range at Jiwaji Club in Gwalior named after double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, He also made a video call to Bhaker to inform her about the shooting range.

England Batter Dawid Malan Retires from International Cricket

  • Dawid Malan has announced his immediate retirement from international cricket with England. His decision brings to a close a career that includes 22 Test matches, 30 one-day internationals and 62 T20 internationals, the left-hander amassing 4,416 runs for his country across all formats.

ISRO and AlphaMERS Join Forces to Combat Marine Pollution Using AI

  • The Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Ahmedabad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AlphaMERS Ltd., a Bengaluru-based firm. The agreement, finalized on July 4, 2024, aims to leverage both entities' resources to develop a sophisticated AI model. This AI system will be designed to detect and profile marine pollution in India's coastal waters, focusing on macro plastics and oil spills.

Satish Kumar appointed as Chairman and CEO of Railway Board

  • Satish Kumar, an Indian Railway Management Service officer, has been appointed as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, effective from September 1. Kumar, who succeeds Jaya Verma Sinha upon her retirement on August 31, marks a historic first as the board’s first Scheduled Caste chairman and CEO. 

Vice Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar Takes Over as DG of Project Seabird

  • Vice Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar on Wednesday assumed duties of the director general of Project 'Seabird', with a charter to oversee largest defence infrastructure project currently progressing at the Karwar Naval Base, the Indian Navy said. He took charge from Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti.

  • National Sports Day is celebrated annually on August 29th in India, marking the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand. This day emphasizes the importance of sports and physical activities and serves to honor Major Dhyan Chand's legacy in Indian hockey. 

International Day against Nuclear Tests

  • International Day against Nuclear Tests is observed on August 29. It was established on December 2, 2009, at the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly by the resolution 64/35, which was adopted unanimously.

ICAR-CIFE and VAMNICOM Sign MoU to Enhance Cooperative Management in Fisheries

  • The Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR-CIFE) and the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding, The collaboration aims to advance cooperative management in the fisheries sector and supports the vision of establishing 200,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy, and fishery cooperatives in every Panchayat.

  • YES Bank has entered into a co-lending partnership with Newtap Finance Private Limited to provide personalised financing solutions for creditworthy individuals on payments platform CRED.
  • Dreamplug Technologies Private Limited (DTPL), which operates CRED, will serve as the Lending Service Provider (LSP) for YES BANK and Newtap Finance in this partnership, The collaboration aligns YES BANK’s financing expertise with CRED's affluent member base, where in recognition of their demonstrated financial responsibility.
