Coast Guard to conduct 'SAREX 24' in Kochi from Nov 27-30 under NMSAR Board

  • The Indian Cast Guard will conduct National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercises & Workshop (SAREX-24) under the aegis of NMSAR Board at Kochi from November 27 to 30, This workshop will be conducted with imperatives to validate the National M-SAR construct through 'all-inclusive' and 'collaborative' approach. 

IIT Hyderabad and Nikon India joined hands to launch its first Centre of Excellence

  • The Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IITH) and Nikon India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, on Monday (November 25, 2024) launched India's first Nikon 'Centre of Excellence' (CoE) on the institute campus.

Gujarat Launches Cottage and Rural Industries Policy 2024-29

  • The Gujarat government has introduced an ambitious Cottage and Rural Industries Policy 2024-29, aiming to bolster the cottage industry, preserve handicrafts, and enhance the sector’s domestic and global market presence. The policy emphasizes increased credit support, infrastructure development, and promotion of unique local products through initiatives like the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme and GI tagging for intellectual property protection.

Rishab Pant break Yuvraj's record as highest paid Indian player in IPL

  • Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishab Pant broke Yuvraj Singh's record to emerge as the highest-paid Indian player in the Indian Premier League ( for Rs 27 crore ) Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player ever to be bought at an IPL auction. 

Divith Reddy becomes Under-8 World Cadets Chess Champion 2024

  • Eight-year-old Divith Reddy of Hyderabad, Telangana, has won the Under-8 World Cadets Chess Championship in Montesilvano, Italy, Divith secured 9 out of the possible 11 points in the Under-8 World Cadets Chess Championship and was tied with fellow Indian Sattwik Swain and the Chinese Ziming Guo. However, due to a better tie-break score, Divith Reddy was awarded the gold medal, Sattwik Swain the silver medal, and the Chinese Ziming Guo got the bronze medal. 

India’s Rinchen Youdol wins historic Bronze at first World Para Poomsae Taekwondo Championships

  • Rinchen Youdol, a para-athlete from Bodhkharboo, Kargil in the Union Territory of Ladakh, has created history by winning the Bronze Medal at the 1st World Para Poomsae Taekwondo Championships held in Manama, Bahrain.

Roche CEO Thomas Schinecker to Lead IFPMA as New President

  • The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) has announced Dr Thomas Schinecker, Chief Executive Officer of the Roche Group, as its new President. He will take charge on January 1, 2025.
