EAM Jaishankar Mahatma Gandhi's bust in Tokyo
- A bust of Mahatma Gandhi was unveiled in Tokyo's Edogawa ward by external affairs minister S Jaishankar, who described the father of the nation as a global icon whose achievements have far outlived his own times. Edogawa ward includes the Nishi-Kasai district, which is home to some 3,000 Indians.

Ajit Doval leads India at the 4th BIMSTEC Security Chief meeting
- The 4th BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Security Chiefs meeting was held in the capital city of Myanmar, Nay Pyi Taw, on 27 July 2024, At the meeting, India was represented by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, During his visit to Myanmar, Ajit Doval also met the Prime Minister of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, as part of the delegation of the BIMSTEC Security Chiefs.

UltraTech to obtain 32.72% stake in India Cements, deal triggers open offer
- India’s largest cement maker, UltraTech Cement, announced on Sunday that it will acquire a 32.72 per cent stake in India Cements from the southern entity’s promoters. The deal, valued at Rs 3,954 crore, will trigger an open offer which, if fully subscribed, will raise the total cost for UltraTech to Rs 7,100 crore.
RBI imposes penalties on 3 payment system operators
- The RBI has imposed penalties on payment system operators Visa Worldwide, Ola Financial Services and Manappuram Finance for deficiencies in regulatory compliance.
- A penalty of Rs 2.4 crore has been imposed on Visa Worldwide Pte Limited and Rs 41.5 lakh on Manappuram Finance Limited, A fine of Rs 87.55 lakh has been slapped on Ola Financial Services in two cases.
