CAG unveils India's first 'Chadwick House, navigating audit heritage' museum in Shimla

  • The Comptroller and Auditor General of India inaugurated the 'Chadwick House: Navigating Audit Heritage' Museum in Shimla. The event marks a significant milestone in preserving and celebrating the institution's rich heritage and its contributions to the governance of the nation.
  • The newly inaugurated museum at Chadwick House in Shimla has been transformed into a modern facility that showcases the evolution, achievements, and milestones of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

350th iDEX contract inked between MoD and SpacePixxel Technologies Pvt Ltd for design & development of miniaturized satellite

  • Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), the flagship initiative of the Ministry of Defence, signed the landmark 350th iDEX contract in New Delhi with SpacePixxel Technologies Pvt Ltd for the design and development of a ‘Miniaturised satellite capable of carrying Electro-Optical, Infrared, Synthetic Aperture Radar, and Hyperspectral payloads up to 150 kgs’.
  • This challenge is being led by the Indian Air Force. The 150th iDEX contract was signed in December 2022, and within a span of 18 months, the 350th contract has been signed.

MR-MOCR developed by DRDO Lab Jodhpur, Handed to the Indian Navy

  • The Medium Range-Microwave Obscurant Chaff Rocket (MR-MOCR) developed by the Jodhpur Laboratory of the Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) was formally handed over to the Indian Navy at a function held in New Delhi on 26 June 2024.
  • At the ceremony, Secretary, the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat handed over the MR-MOCR to Director General of Naval Armament Inspection, Indian Navy Rear Admiral Brijesh Vashistha.

  • NATO appointed Mark Rutte as its next secretary-general putting the outgoing Dutch prime minister in charge of the world’s biggest security organization at a critical time for European security as war rages in Ukraine. 

India’s First AI University Appoints American Professor as VC

  • Universal AI University (UAIU), India's pioneering institution dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, has named Simon Mak, an international strategist and award-winning professor, as its vice chancellor. This appointment marks a significant milestone, as Mak becomes the first foreign national to helm an Indian university as founding vice chancellor. 

Naik steps down as chairman of LTIM, LTTS; not on board of any L&T group co now

  • Veteran industry leader A.M. Naik stepped down as the chairman of L&T Group's information technology and engineering services arms, L&T Infotech Mindtree and L&T Technology Services.
  • Naik, who has been with the engineering, procurement and construction major for over six decades and led the company through testing times, will not be on board of any Larsen and Toubro group companies from now on.

Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) Day

  • Every year on June 27, the world celebrates Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) Day. This important observance highlights the crucial role these businesses play in our economies and communities.
  • The 2024 theme focuses on “Leveraging Power and Resilience of Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to Accelerate Sustainable Development and Eradicate Poverty in Times of Multiple Crises“. This theme recognizes the potential of MSMEs to drive progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Helen Keller Day

  • Every year on June 27 we celebrate Helen Keller Day! This day honours the extraordinary woman who overcame blindness and deafness to become a world-renowned author and activist. Helen's story inspires us with its message of perseverance, resilience, and the power of communication.
  • Keller was born on June 27, 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama to Arthur Henley Keller and Catherine Everett (Adams) Keller. She was diagnosed with a type of bacterial meningitis when she was 19 months old, and as a result, she was unable to see, hear, or communicate. Alexander Graham Bell, a well-known scientist and inventor who is credited with creating the first telephone, responded to the family's request for guidance and advised them to admit her to Boston's Perkins Institute for the Blind.
