Himachal Govt approves Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana

  • The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, in a meeting at Shimla chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has approved a new scheme, “Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana”. The scheme aims to provide financial support to identified socially and economically vulnerable women and parents of disabled children so as to enable the education and well-being of their children. 

Maharashtra Becomes First State to Adopt Unified Pension Scheme

  • The Maharashtra cabinet on Sunday has decided to implement the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) for state government employees, making it the first state to adopt the scheme announced by the Union government the previous day, According to the cabinet’s decision, the UPS will take effect from March this year and will benefit all state government employees, 

Spices Board of India launches scheme to boost exports, cardamom productivity

  • The Spices Board of India has launched a transformative scheme ‘SPICED’ aimed at significantly enhancing the export of spices and value-added spice products as well as improving the productivity of cardamom and upgrading the post-harvest quality of spices for exports. The scheme, officially named ‘Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development,’ will be implemented throughout the remainder of the 15th Finance Commission cycle.

Lando Norris won the Dutch GP 2024

  • McLaren driver Lando Norris claimed his second victory of the F1 2024 season in the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen forced to settle for second at his home race and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc in third.

Olympic Cyclist Daniela Chirinos Passes Away

  • The cycling world mourns the loss of Daniela Larreal Chirinos, a celebrated Venezuelan Olympic cyclist who passed away at the age of 51. Sanjeev Raina Appointed ITBP Additional Director General

  • In a rare move the government has promoted and appointed a non-IPS Sanjeev Raina, a 1987-batch Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) cadre officer, as Additional Director General (ADG) in the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) guarding force, only the second time in the history of the force. 

Arun Agarwal Appointed Chairman of TEDC

  • Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Dallas-based Indian American entrepreneur Arun Agarwal as the chairman of the Texas Economic Development Corporation's (TEDC) board of directors. A key public-private partnership with the Governor's Office of Economic Development and Tourism.

  • The 24th International Mother Teresa Awards Ceremony took place on August 26, 2024, at Millennium Plaza Dubai, marking the 114th birth anniversary of the esteemed humanitarian. Organized by the All-India Minority and Weaker Sections Council,
  • This event was held outside India for only the second time, with both international ceremonies occurring in Dubai. Established posthumously after Mother Teresa’s death in 1997, the awards honor exceptional individuals across various sectors including education, science, culture, sports, social work, medicine, industry, and politics.
