India-US to jointly set up multi-chip fab unit for National Security

  • India and the United States will jointly set up the world’s first multi-material chip fabrication unit in Jewar - UP India, which will be exclusively for national security purposes. Both the countries agreed to jointly set up a new semiconductor plant which will produce chips to be used in high-technology warfare platforms, like advanced communications, advanced sensing, and high voltage power electronics equipment.

PM Modi to inaugurate metro, supercomputing, energy projects and more

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pune, Maharashtra today, (September 26) He will flag off the Pune Metro from District Court to Swargate at 6 PM. Following this, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple projects valued at over Rs. 22,600 crore.

Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan & Vijay Sundar Prashant win Hangzhou Open Doubles title

  • Indian tennis duo Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth today won the doubles title in the ATP 250 Hangzhou Open 2024. They defeated the German pair of Constantine Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Centre. The Indian duo staged a remarkable comeback to triumph 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-7, marking their first ATP title together as a pair.

SP Dharkar appointed as the next IAF vice Chief

  • Air Marshal SP Dharkar, a distinguished fighter pilot, has been appointed as the next Vice Chief of Air Staff. He will succeed Air Marshal AP Singh, who is set to become the Chief of Air Staff. Dharkar will assume his new role once the Chief takes over.

  • The World Contraception Day is a worldwide awareness day that has taken place on the 26th of September every year. During this day, various local and global healthcare organisations gather around to raise awareness of contraception in the general population. 

World Environmental Health Day

  • World Environmental Health Day is celebrated annually on September 26th to highlight the connection between environmental health and human health. The day is an initiative of the International Federation of Environmental Health. 

World Maritime Day

  • World Maritime Day is observed worldwide by all the seafaring communities on the last Thursday of September, In 2024 World Maritime Day will be observed on 26 September.
  • Theme - The International Maritime Organisation chooses the theme of World Maritime Day to highlight an issue. This year, the IMO has chosen “Navigating the future: Safety First” as the theme of World Maritime Day.
