Indian Navy conducts Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with German Navy
- Indian Navy’s Destroyer INS Delhi, German Navy’s Frigate Baden-Württemberg and Tanker Frankfurt Am Main undertook a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) in the Indian Ocean. The exercises conducted include cross deck flying operations, underway replenishment, weapon firing and tactical manoeuvres.
Singapore India maritime bilateral exercise (simbex) 2024
- The 31st edition of the Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) is scheduled from 23 to 29 Oct 2024, in the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam. Republic of Singapore Navy Ship RSS Tenacious with embarked helicopter, arrived at Visakhapatnam on 23 October 24 for participating in SIMBEX2024.
International Gita Mahotsav 2024 to be held in Haryana
- A Grand Cultural Event the International Gita Mahotsav will be celebrated from November 28 to December 15, 2024, in Kurukshetra, Haryana, promising a grand display of Indian heritage, spirituality, and culture. Since 2016, this event has expanded globally, spreading the message of the Bhagavad Gita and enhancing Haryana’s global presence.

Kagiso Rabada Becomes the Fastest to get 300 Test Wickets
- Kagiso Rabada has created history by becoming the fastest bowler to reach 300 Test wickets based on balls bowled, achieving the milestone in just 11,817 deliveries. The South African pace sensation is now among the greats, surpassing legends like Waqar Younis (12,602 balls) and Dale Steyn (12,605 balls).
Zimbabwe Sets Record for Highest T20I Total
- Zimbabwe’s cricket team etched their name in history by posting a record-breaking total of 344/4 in a T20 International, led by Sikandar Raza’s unbeaten 133 off just 43 balls. His explosive innings, featuring 15 sixes, helped Zimbabwe achieve this landmark in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier B match against Gambia.
Women’s hockey legend Rani Rampal retires
- Indian women’s hockey legend Rani Rampal has announced her retirement as player. Rani played 254 international matches and scored 120 goals since making her debut at just 14 years old in 2008 during the Olympic qualifiers in Kazan.
India’s Vishvajit More Wins Bronze at Under-23 Wrestling World Championship
- In wrestling, India’s Vishvajit Ramchandra More bagged the bronze medal at the Under-23 world championship in Tirana, Albania, this morning. More defeated Adam Ulbashev, 14-10, in the men’s 55 kg Greco-Roman category. This is India’s first medal in the championship. Ali Abdollah Ahmadi Vafa of Iran won the gold, Rashad Mammadov won the silver, and Kohel Yamagiwa of Japan shared the bronze with More.
- Earlier, India’s Anjly advanced to the final in the women’s 59 kg category. She defeated Aurora Russo of Italy, 4-nil, in the semi-final yesterday. Anjly will now take on Solimiia Vynnyk of Ukraine in the final tonight.

ICRISAT Announces Dr. Himanshu Pathak as New Director General
- The Governing Board of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has announced the appointment of Dr. Himanshu Pathak as the Director General-designate of the esteemed institute. The announcement was made by Governing Board Chair Professor Prabhu Pingali during an all-staff event held on Friday, October 18, at ICRISAT headquarters in Hyderabad.
Justice Sanjeev Khanna appointed as Chief Justice of India
- The central government has officially notified the appointment of Justice Sanjeev Khanna as the next Chief Justice of India, set to take effect on November 11. This appointment comes in the wake of the retirement of the current Chief Justice, DY Chandrachud, on November 10.
