Telangana Launches TB-Free Model: Project Swasthya Nagaram

• Telangana government launched the “Project Swasthya Nagaram,” a unique model for TB-free municipalities, on July 24, 2024, in Hyderabad. This initiative is a collaborative effort by the State Tuberculosis Cell, Municipal Corporations of Peerzadiguda, Boduppal, and Pocharam in Medchal Malkajgiri district, along with the Central TB Division, WHO India, USAID, and other stakeholders, aims to achieve TB-free municipalities through an innovative approach. 

Launch of Advanced Frigate Triput:

• The first of two Advanced Frigates under construction by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) for the Indian Navy, was launched on 23 Jul 24 at GSL, Goa. In keeping with maritime tradition, the ship was launched by Smt Rita Sreedharan to the invocation from Atharva Veda, in the presence of Shri P S Sreedharan Pillai, Hon’ble Governor of Goa. The ship has been named Triput, after the mighty arrow, representing the indomitable spirit of Indian Navy and its ability to strike far and deep.

France Set To Host 2030 Winter Olympics

• The International Olympic Committee has chosen the French Alps to host the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, but this decision is dependent on receiving a financial guarantee from the new French government.

Ajinkya Naik Elected as the President of MCA

• Ajinkya Naik, at 37 years old, has been elected as the youngest president in the history of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). In a decisive victory, Naik defeated Sanjay Naik, a candidate supported by Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar, by 107 votes in a one-sided election.

World Drowning Prevention Day

• World Drowning Prevention Day is a global event that is held annually on 25 July to remember lives lost due to drowning and to increase knowledge on safety in and around water, The World Health Assembly marked this day as the World Drowning Prevention Day to spread the awareness on drowning and devise various counteractions to restrain it. 

World Embryologist Day

• World Embryologist Day is celebrated annually on the 25th of July to mark the birth of the world's first test tube baby, Louise Brown, in 1978, as a result of successful efforts by Dr Robert Geoffery Edwards, Dr Patrick Christopher Steptoe, and Nurse Jean Marian Purdy.

• Curator and author Rahaab Allana has been awarded the insignia of Officier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. The prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to art, culture, and literature, or who have influenced the global arts landscape. 

Shah Rukh Khan, First Indian Actor, Honoured With Gold Coins

• Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been honoured with customised gold coins by the Grevin Museum in Paris. Shah Rukh is the first Indian actor to have gold coins in his name at the museum.
• About - Gervin Museum: The Gervin Museum is a wax museum located on the Grands Boulevards in Paris. The Dunki actor has his wax statues in several wax museums across the globe including the US, the UK, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Thailand, India, Singapore and Australia.

China, Australia, and India Lead in Forest Area Gains: FAO Report

• According to the report released by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), China led the world with the maximum forest area gain of 1,937,000 hectares, followed by Australia with 4,46,000 hectares, and then India. Other countries in the top 10 include Chile, Vietnam, Turkey, the United States, France, Italy and Romania.

BoB launches Generative AI-powered VRM

• Bank of Baroda (BoB) launched a range of digital and technology-led initiatives, including a Generative AI-powered virtual relationship manager (VRM), and credit line on UPI for enhancing payments and banking experience for customers, on it’s 117th foundation day.
