HM Amit Shah inaugurated 10,000 new PACS, dairy & fisheries cooperative societies

  • Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Sri Amit Shah dedicated more than ten thousand newly established multipurpose primary agricultural cooperative societies, dairy, and fisheries cooperatives to the nation in New Delhi on 25 December.

Sairaj Pardeshi bags one Gold and two silver medals at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships

  • In Weightlifting, India’s Sairaj Pardeshi bagged one gold and two silver medals in snatch, clean and jerk, and total lift categories at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar, He bettered his youth national records to clinch the 81kg men’s title.

President Droupadi Murmu Appoints New Governors in 5 States

  • President Droupadi Murmu has appointed governors in five states, The Governor of Mizoram Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati will now be the new Governor of Odisha. The development came following the resignation of the present Odisha Governor Raghubar Das. Former Union Minister General Vijay Kumar Singh has been appointed as Governor of Mizoram and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who is serving as Governor of Bihar has been appointed as the Governor of Kerala. He will succeed Arif Mohammed Khan who will be the Governor of Bihar. Former Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been appointed as Governor of Manipur. 

Former SC Judge V Ramasubramanian Appointed as 9th NHRC Chairperson

  • President Droupadi Murmu appointed former Supreme Court judge V Ramasubramanian as the 9th Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on 23 December 2024. President Droupadi Murmu also appointed Priyank Kanoongo and Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi (Retd.) as Members of the NHRC.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 100th birth anniversary

  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born into a Kanyakubja Brahmin family on 25 December 1924 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. His mother was Krishna Devi and his father was Krishna Bihari Vajpayee. His father was a schoolteacher in Gwalior.
  • On the occasion of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 100th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Madhya Pradesh and inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of multiple development projects in Khajuraho.

India Ranks 49th in Network Readiness Index (NRI) 2024

  • India has made remarkable progress in the 2024 Network Readiness Index (NRI), jumping 11 places from 60th in 2023 to 49th, with an improved score of 53.63, NRI published by the Portulans Institute, Washington DC, focusing on technology’s role in governance and citizen engagement.
