NCERT and Education Ministry launches e-magazine, Sapno ki Udaan

  • The Union Ministry of Education released the inaugural edition of the e-magazine ‘Sapno ki Udaan’ The e-magazine was launched on the occasion of the first National Space Day, which was observed across the country on 23 August to commemorate the soft landing of the Vikram lander of the Chandrayaan -3 mission on the south pole of the Moon on 23 August 2023. 

GAIL and Petron to Establish 500 KTA Bio-Ethylene Plant in India

  • GAIL (India) Limited and Petron Scientech Inc signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore setting up a 500 KTA bio-ethylene plant in India. The proposed project, based on bio-ethanol, would be a 50:50 joint venture. The companies will conduct feasibility studies to assess technical viability and financial prospects before seeking investment approval from their respective managements. 

National Medical Register Portal Launched to Streamline Doctor Registration in India

  • Union Health Minister P. Nadda launched the National Medical Register Portal in New Delhi for the registration of all MBBS doctors eligible for registration in India. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nadda said that the portal will be a comprehensive and dynamic database for all allopathic (MBBS) registered doctors in the country. 

GPCB launches innovative campaign to achieve plastic free state

  • The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has launched an innovative campaign to curb plastic pollution and achieve a plastic-free state, GPCB has installed cloth bag vending machines-similar to ATMs-at all the prominent temples across the state providing devotees with easy access to reusable cloth bags.

First-ever Women’s Test match between India and England to be played in 2026

  • The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that the first-ever women’s Test match will be played between India and England in 2026 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. 

Indian women clinch first-ever team title at U17 Wrestling World Championships in Jordan

  • At the ongoing Under-17 World Wrestling Championship in Amman, Jordan, Indian women extended their dominance to win its first-ever team title with 185 points. Japan finished second with 146 points and Kazakhstan finished third with 79 points. Kajal became the fifth wrestler from the country to bag a gold. Kajal won her bout with a commanding 9-2 win over Ukraine’s Oleksandra Rybak in the 69kg weight category. 

Shuttler Tanvi Patri crowned Asian U-15 champion

  • Tanvi Patri clinched the under-15 girls singles title at the Badminton Asia U-17 & U-15 junior championships after she defeated Thi Thu Huyen Nguyen of Vietnam in straight games in the final in Chengdu, China on Sunday.
  • The 13-year-old Patri, seeded No. 1, wrapped up the proceedings in just 34 minutes as she cruised to a 22-20 21-11 victory over her second-seeded opponent in the summit clash.

India launches its first reusable hybrid rocket RHUMI-1

  • India achieved a significant milestone in its space journey with the launch of its first reusable hybrid rocket, RHUMI-1. Developed by Tamil Nadu-based startup Space Zone India in collaboration with Martin Group, the rocket lifted off from Thiruvidandhai in Chennai, carrying a payload of three CubeSats and 50 PICO satellites designed to collect data on global warming and climate change.

Tata Power Solar Systems and ICICI Bank Partner to Finance Solar Units

  • Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd (TPSSL) has signed an agreement with ICICI Bank to provide financing for solar units to residential and corporate customers, as part of the agreement, the customers can avail themselves of loans up to Rs 90 lakh with collateral-free options and tenure extending up to 5 years. 

RBI clears e-mandate for auto-replenishment of FASTag, NCMC

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday announced an update to its e-mandate framework by extending its scope to include auto replenishment of balance for FASTag and National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), which are recurring in nature but without any fixed periodicity.
