Armenia joined the International Solar Alliance as the 104th full member

  • Armenia has become the 104th full member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), effective from November 15, 2024 and the agreement was signed in Yerevan on November 16, 2023.
  • International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an inter-governmental treaty-based organisation with a global mandate to catalyse solar growth by helping to reduce the cost of financing and technology. 

India, EU firm up extensive roadmap for green hydrogen cooperation

  • India and the European Union (EU) have finalised an extensive roadmap for the green hydrogen sector that includes development of infrastructure, technology cooperation and boosting supply chains.
  • The two sides deliberated on ways to enhance cooperation in the sector at the 10th meeting of the India-EU Energy Panel held on Thursday in Brussels.

Sony Sports Secures Rights for All ACC Tournaments (2024-2031)

  • On the 22nd November evening, Jay Shah, the ICC president-elect and current chief of the BCCI and ACC, announced a landmark partnership between the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Sony Sports Networks. The deal, which will span from 2024 to 2031, will see all ACC tournaments broadcast exclusively on Sony Sports, marking a significant boost for cricket’s visibility in the region. 

India's first Constitution Museum inaugurated at OP Jindal University

  • India's first Constitution Museum was inaugurated at the O P Jindal Global University here on Saturday by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the museum features cutting-edge technology, including AI-powered guided tours and 3D installations. Collaborations with IIT Madras and the Centre for Technical Expertise have enabled the creation of this unprecedented educational experience. Visitors will learn about the Constituent Assembly’s members, their contributions, and the historical debates that shaped the document.

In Wrestling - Reetika Hooda clinches gold medal at the World Military Championships

  • In Wrestling, India have clinched a total of seven medals including three Gold, one Silver and three Bronze at the World Military Championships in Yerevan, Armenia yesterday.
  • Among the gold medal winners are India’s Reetika Hooda in the women’s 76kg category, Jyoti Sihag in the women’s 55kg category and Jaideep in the Men’s 74 kg Freestyle category.
  • Subedar Sharwan bagged the silver medal in the men’s 70 kg Free Style. Bronze category medal holders in the Men’s category include Shubham in the 57 kg Free Style and Chandermohan in the 79 kg Free Style, While Priyanka bagged the bronze in the 68 Kg Women’s category. 

In Tennis - N Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Bollipalli clinch Men’s Doubles title at ATP Challenger Tour

  • In Tennis, N Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Bollipalli have won Men’s Doubles title at the ATP Challenger Tour in Italy. They defeated second-seeded French tennis player Theo Arribage and his Portuguese partner Francisco Cabral in the final yesterday. This was Rithvik Bollipalli’s second title on the ATP Challenger Tour, having won the crown at the Almaty Open in Kazakhstan last month with Arjun Kadhe. For the 34-year-old Balaji, this was the first tennis title on the ATP Challenger Tour.

PM Modi honoured with Global Peace Award in US

  • The Association of Indian American Minorities (AIAM), a newly formed non-governmental organisation, was launched on Friday at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church, Maryland.
  • The initiative aims to unite and promote the welfare of minority communities within the Indian American diaspora in the United States.
  • During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured (in absentia) with the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Global Peace Award for Minority Upliftment. The award was jointly presented by Washington Adventist University and AIAM, recognising his efforts towards inclusive development and minority welfare. 

Upamanyu wins JCB Prize 2024 for 'Lorenzo Searches for the Meaning of Life'

  • Writer Upamanyu Chatterjee won the JCB Prize for Literature for his book "Lorenzo Searches for the Meaning of Life", Chatterjee's book, published by Speaking Tiger, follows the story of a young Italian man who starts leading a life of spirituality after an accident only to discover the banalities of the path. The award was announced at a ceremony at JCB India Headquarters in Faridabad.
