Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme’ at Indira Gandhi International Airport

  • Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme’ at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Union Home Secretary and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
  • Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI- TTP) is a visionary initiative of the Government of India, which has been thoughtfully designed for the benefit of Indian citizens and OCI cardholders. This initiative will provide more facility for the Indian Nationals and OCI passengers coming from other countries. 

Home Minister Shah Inaugurates 30 Smart Schools in Ahmedabad under NEP 2020

  • Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, today e-inaugurated 30 smart schools in Ahmedabad, marking a significant step in implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event, attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other dignitaries, represents a Rs 36 crore investment by the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board.
  • The smart schools, distributed across various assembly constituencies in Ahmedabad, are expected to benefit over 10,000 children. Shah highlighted that 59 out of 69 schools in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency have now been upgraded to smart schools, with the remaining set to follow suit. 

Indian Army Opened Khalubar War Memorial to Tourists

  • In Ladakh, as a tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War, the Indian Army has opened the Khalubar War Memorial to tourists. This opening ceremony was part of the ‘Forever in Operations’ Division’s Pre-Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations as this year, the country will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July.
  • Located in the renowned Aryan Valley this memorial commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers who fought to reclaim the valley during the war. 

Jakson Green bags NTPC bid for project to produce 4G ethanol from flue gas

  • New energy transition platform Jakson Green has bagged an order from state-owned NTPC for setting up a plant to produce 4G ethanol from flue gas.
  • The proposed plant at Lara in Chhattisgarh will produce 10 tonnes per day (TPD) of 4G ethanol from flue gases emitted from power plants, a company statement said.
  • Using the latest carbon capture technology by Veolia Carbon Clean, the plant will capture 25 TPD CO2 from flue gases, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Afghanistan creates history, defeats World Champion Australia in Super 8s of T20 World Cup 2024

  • Afghanistan pulled off an upset of epic proportions with a shock 21-run win over mighty Australia in T20 World Cup with Gulbadin Naib's four-wicket haul upending Pat Cummins' hat-trick to produce one of most memorable days in Afghan cricket.
  • Using the slower balls smartly on a difficult batting wicket, Afghanistan defended their total of 148 for six for their first-ever win over Australia in international cricket.

Director General of NTA Subodh Kumar Singh Removed From His Post

  • Amid controversy over NEET examination, Director General of National Testing Agency (NTA), Subodh Kumar Singh has been removed from his post. Mr Singh has been put on compulsory wait in the Department of Personnel and Training. India Trade Promotion Organisation Chairman and MD Pradeep Singh Kharola has been given additional charge of NTA’s Director General.

International Olympic Day

  • Established in 1948, Olympic Day is a global celebration of sport and physical activity held annually on June 23rd. It commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by Pierre de Coubertin in 1894.
  • This year’s theme resonates particularly deeply as Paris, the host city for the upcoming Games, is also Coubertin’s birthplace. What a perfect opportunity to reignite the Olympic spirit and unite the world through the power of sports ! 

United Nations Public Service Day

  • The United Nations Public Service Day is celebrated on June 23 of every year. The UN Public Service Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly's resolution A/RES/57/277, adopted on December 20th, 2002, to celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community.
  • For United Nations Public Service Day 2024, no specific theme has been designated. Individuals work or volunteer in the public sector for various reasons. Some are motivated by a desire to assist the general public, such as lawyers offering low-cost or free legal services for the public good.

MCTE (Indian Army) and SAMEER an autonomous Research and Development laboratory signed MoU

  • Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Indian Army and Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER), an autonomous Research and Development laboratory under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance collaboration in ‘Next Generation Wireless Technologies for Indian Army’.
  • The MoU was signed by Commandant MCTE and Colonel Commandant Corps of Signals Lt Gen K H Gawas, and Director General SAMEER, Dr P H Rao. This initiative marks a significant milestone in strengthening the Indian Army’s technological capabilities which is aligned towards declared vision for 2024 as ‘Year of Technological Absorption for Indian Army’ by Chief of Army Staff.

IRIS Business Services awarded 'Global Central Banking Award 2024' for Technology Services in London

  • Global RegTech company, IRIS Business Services Limited (BSE: 540735) has received the prestigious 'Global Central Banking Award 2024' for Technology Services in London.
  • The award was given by 'Central Banking', a renowned industry publication based in London. The Reserve Bank of India was also awarded 'Risk Manager of The Year' award at the same function. This is the third award presented to an Indian national/ Indian entity in the last two years by the magazine. Previously, Shaktikanta Das, Governor, RBI had received the 'Governor of the Year' award in 2023.
