Maldivian President decides to introduce India’s UPI in Maldives

• President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to introduce India’s Unified Payment Interface in the Maldives. The president’s office announced that the decision was taken on the recommendation of the cabinet. The move is expected to bring significant benefits to the Maldivian economy. 

India and Oman conduct naval exercise Naseem Al Bahr

• The India-Oman bilateral naval exercise Naseem-Al-Bahr, held from October 13 to 18, 2024, off the coast of Goa, featured the participation of the Indian Navy’s INS Trikand and Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft, alongside the Royal Navy of Oman’s vessel Al Seeb.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Inaugurate International Workshop on Modern Technologies in Survey-Resurvey

• Union Rural Development Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the International Workshop on Modern Technologies in Survey-Resurvey for Urban Land Records in New Delhi tomorrow ( October 21 ) . The primary objective of the workshop is to showcase global best practices in urban land record modernization, present applicable technological solutions, and facilitate pilot project planning for selected urban areas. 

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Launched eShram Portal

• Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will launch the eShram, One Stop Solution for Unorganised Workers, in New Delhi tomorrow. The platform will act as a mediator to ensure that unorganised workers have easy access to a variety of government schemes.

• The government has given L Satya Srinivas, Additional Secretary in Department of Commerce, the additional charge of CEO of public procurement portal GeM, The additional charge was given as the last CEO of the Government e Marketplace (GeM) P K Singh has been appointed as secretary in the renewable energy ministry. 

Abhyuday Jindal Takes Over As President of Indian Chamber of Commerce

• The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a prominent national business association, has appointed Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless Limited, as its new president.

According to the latest data from 2022, the top three most economically free regions are Hong Kong (1st), Singapore (2nd), and Switzerland (3rd), India ranks 84th in the list.
