PM Modi to visit Varanasi on Oct 20, lay foundation for 23 projects worth ₹1,300 crore

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on October 20 and dedicated many facilities worth around Rs 6600 crore like health, education, sports, religion, tourism, employment, accommodation, and aviation to the public. The Prime Minister also lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Varanasi Airport and the new terminal building. 

Tata Power firm launches programme to promote solar power in Tamil Nadu

  • Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, on Friday launched a programme to bring sustainable and affordable solar energy to households in Tamil Nadu.
  • The programme called 'Ghar Ghar Solar, Tata Power ke Sang' has helped households in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh to “embrace clean energy solutions”. 

Disney-Reliance JV: All live sports, including IPL, to stream on Hotstar

  • All live sporting events streamed by the newly merged Disney-Reliance business in India, including popular Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket, will only be available on Disney's Hotstar app
  • The decision marks the first major integration of the businesses and signals billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance, which holds a majority of the new venture, doesn't plan to shut the Disney platform, though it is unclear if Hotstar might be rebranded.

Vijaya Rahatkar Appointed as Chairperson of National Commission for Women

  • Vijaya Rahatkar has been appointed as the Chairperson of National Commission for Women NCW. A notification in this regard has been issued by Ministry of Women and Child Development. Ms Rahatkar has served as Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women and Mayor of Aurangabad

MOIL signed a draft JV agreement with MP State Mining Corporation

  • MOIL has entered into a draft joint venture agreement with Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation Limited (MPSMCL), at MP Mining Conclave’24 in Bhopal. This collaboration aims to advance manganese ore mining and undertake value-addition projects in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

JSW Steel-JFE JV to buy thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel India for Rs 4,051 cr

  • Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Steel is all set to acquire 100 per cent stake in thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel India Private Limited (tkES India) jointly with Japan’s JFE Steel Corporation for Rs 4,051 crore.
