Tata Power partners with Bhutan's Druk Green Power to develop 5,000 MW of clean energy

  • Tata Power has entered into a strategic partnership with Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd (DGPC) to develop at least 5,000 MW of clean energy generation capacity in Bhutan. This collaboration aims to harness Bhutan’s vast hydropower potential and contribute to the region’s energy security and sustainability.

HM Amit Shah inaugurates ₹21 Cr lake & public park in Gujarat

  • Union Home Minister, Amit Shah inaugurated a newly constructed lake and public park in Shela, Ahmedabad, in the presence of Padma Bhushan awardee Rajinikanth Shroff. Developed at an estimated cost of ₹21 crore, the project aims to enhance the ecological and recreational infrastructure of the area. 

The 55th Edition of the International Film Festival of India, begin in Goa

  • The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) begins today (November 20) in Goa and will continue until 28th November 2024, this year, Australia has been chosen as the Country of Focus. 

Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve, Chhattisgarh has been notified as the 56th Tiger reserve

  • Chhattisgarh has officially declared Guru Ghasidas National Park and Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary as its fourth tiger reserve, now known as Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve. Spanning 2,829.38 sq km, it is India's 56th tiger reserve and the third-largest in the country.

  • West Bengal wins team crown in 4th National Finswimming Championship held at the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Swimming Pool Complex, New Delhi, the three-day event saw 1500 participants from 26 States and Union Territories competing for glory. Organized by the Underwater Sports Federation of India (USFI) in association with the Physical Education Foundation of India.

Punit Goenka Resigns as MD of Zee Entertainment

  • Punit Goenka, the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, resigned from his position as MD but will continue to serve as CEO of the company. This decision comes just days before a shareholders’ meeting where Goenka was set to seek approval for a new five-year term as MD and CEO, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029.

  • World Children’s Day is a yearly celebration held on November 20, commemorating the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959. Initially known as Universal Children’s Day since 1954, it emphasizes global unity, children’s awareness, and the enhancement of their well-being. The day is particularly significant as it also marks the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.

  • Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will pay an official visit to Vientiane, Lao PDR (Laos) from November 20-22, 2024 to attend the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus). He will address the forum on Regional and International Security Issues during the meeting.

  • The Global Freight Summit 2024 commenced in Dubai on November 18, marking its third edition since 2022. Hosted by DP World, the event concluded on November 20 with over 5,000 industry leaders from 155 countries participating, focusing on the theme of Acting to reach the opportunities of tomorrow.

Daniel Barenboim and Ali Awwad conferred with Indira Gandhi Peace Prize 2023

  • The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2023 was conferred on Daniel Barenboim and Ali Abu Awwad, who have dedicated their lives to promoting amity among Israeli and Palestinian people through non-violent tools of music, dialogue and people's participation, The awardees were selected by a distinguished jury headed by former Chief Justice of India T S Thakur, the award was presented virtually on Indira Gandhi's birth anniversary.
