Nepal Tourism Board Won the PATA Gold Award for Sustainable Tourism

• Nepal Tourism Board has received the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award in Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project (STLRP). This is the third time NTB has received a PATA award in community-based tourism. The award recognizes the project’s efforts in creating employment opportunities and enhancing sustainable tourism development in all seven provinces of Nepal. 

India & 3 more Nations signed charter to establish Colombo Security Conclave Secretariat

• India signed the Charter and memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) Secretariat along with Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Mauritius.
• National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, along with representatives from Maldives, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka, signed a charter and memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) Secretariat, according to the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka.

VISA Partners With Skill India To Up Skill 20,000 Youth For India’s Booming Tourism Industry

• The Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Visa (NYSE: V), a global leader in digital payments, for a three-year partnership valued at up to $1 million USD. This initiative, designed to up skill at least 20,000 Indian youth in tourism-relevant skills, was formalized in the presence of Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Minister of State, Ministry of Education Government of India. 

Mastercard Launches Payment Passkey Service in India

• Mastercard, a global technology in the payments industry announced the worldwide launch of its new Payment Passkey Service to make online shopping more secure and easier than ever, This service has debuted in India as a pilot with some of the nation’s largest payment players including, payment aggregators Juspay, Razorpay and PayU, online merchants such as Bigbasket and banks such as Axis Bank. 

Centre releases BioE3 Policy 2024

• Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh released the Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment (BioE3) Policy 2024 in New Delhi, The Union Cabinet approved the BioE3 policy on the 24th of this month.

Bihar to host 8th Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024

• Rajgir, Bihar, will host the 8th Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament 2024. This is the second consecutive time that India will host the tournament. India hosted the 7th Women’s Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Ranchi, Jharkhand, from 27 October to 5 November 2023, which the Indian team won. 

Paralympics: Rubina Francis wins bronze in Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1

• Para shooter Rubina Francis brought home India’s fifth medal in the ongoing Paris Paralympics, winning bronze medal in the P2 – 10m Air Pistol SH1 event.

Rajiv Gauba retiers, TV Somanathan takes over as Cabinet Secretary

• India’s longest-serving cabinet secretary, Rajiv Gauba, retired after five years of service on 30 August 2024. He was replaced by Finance Secretary TV Somanathan, TV Somanathan is the 33rd cabinet secretary of the government of India.
