8th edition of India -Kazakhstan military EX KAZIND 2024 Start in Auli

• India -Kazakhstan joint military exercise KAZIND -2024 commenced at the mountainous Surya Foreign Training node in Auli, Uttarakhand, on 30 September 2024. The 8th edition of KAZIND-2024 will be held in Auli from 30 September to 13 October 2024.
• The last edition of the annual bilateral military exercise was held in Otar, Kazakhstan, from 30 October to 11 November 2023. For the first time, the Air Forces of both countries and the Airborne Assault Forces of Kazakhstan participated.

Shankh Air set to take to launch by the end of 2024

• Shankh Air intends to launch by the end of 2024, despite having a three-year validity on its no-objection certificate (NOC) from the civil aviation ministry. The airline's management team is already in place, with plans to begin the staff hiring process soon. It will be utilizing a fleet of new-generation Boeing 737-800NG aircraft. 

Cruise Bharat Mission launched to promote Cruise Tourism

• The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarabanand Sonowal, launched the Cruise Bharat Mission in Mumbai, The Minister launched the mission onboard the cruise ship Empress. The initiative aims to achieve India’s vision of becoming a global hub for cruise tourism and promote the country as the leading global cruise destination.

Ravindra Jadeja Becomes member of elite club with 3000 runs and 300 wickets

• In the India vs Bangladesh 2 test match series, Ravindra Jadeja became the first Indian left arm spinner to take 300 test wickets in Test cricket. The all-rounder also became the second fastest player who scored 3000 test runs and scalped 300 test wickets. 

Parth Mane secures double Gold at ISSF Junior World Championship in Peru

• Ace Indian shooter Parth Rakesh Mane picked up a double gold in the 10m air rifle along with winning the men’s team event on day three of the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru.

International Coffee Day

• International Coffee Day on 1 October is an occasion that is used to promote and celebrate coffee as a beverage, with events now occurring in places around the world. The first official date was 3 October 2015, as agreed by the International Coffee Organization and was launched in Milan. 

International Day of the Older Persons

• The International Day of Older People is observed on October 1 each year. On December 14, 1990, the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older People as recorded in Resolution 45/106. The holiday was observed for the first time on October 1, 1991.

54th Dadashaeb Phalke Award Winner: Mithun Chakraborty

• The Union Ministry for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the jury had selected veteran Hindi and Bengali film actor Mithun Chakraborty as the recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Awards for 2022.
• Mithun Chakraborty will be the 54th recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Last year, Waheeda Rehman received the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Awards for 2021.
