Amit Shah launched the Civil Registration System (CRS) mobile app

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah launches the Civil Registration System (CRS) mobile application, aimed at integrating technology into governance and simplifying the registration of births and deaths. This initiative aligns with the government’s Digital India vision, designed to provide citizens with a seamless and efficient way to register vital events at any time, from any location, and in their state’s official language. 

Amit Shah inaugurated Gujarat’s largest waste to energy plant in Ahmedabad

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Gujarat’s largest waste to energy plant at Pirana in Ahmedabad City today (November 1). The plant has been established on PPP model at a cost of 375 crore rupees. It has the capacity to generate 15 megawatts of energy from 1 thousand metric tonnes of solid waste per day.

Mansi Ahlawat wins Bronze in women’s 59kg at Senior World Wrestling Championships

  • In Wrestling, India’s Mansi Ahlawat has clinched the bronze medal in the women’s 59kg category at the Seniors World Championships, in Tirana, Albania. Mansi defeated Laurence Beauregard of Canada, 5-NIL, in the bronze medal match last night. Risako Kinjo of Japan won the Gold, Tserenchimed Sukhee of Mongolia grabbed the Silver, while Elena Heike Brugger of Germany shared the Bronze with Mansi.

Chairman of PM’s economic advisory council, Dr. Bibek Debroy, passes away

  • Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council Dr. Bibek Debroy passed away at AIIMS, New Delhi. He was 69. He was admitted at the hospital last night. Dr. Debroy was an economist and was educated in Ramakrishna Mission School, Presidency College in Kolkata, Delhi School of Economics and Trinity College Cambridge. During his illustrious career, he worked in different capacities.

ChatGPT to now work like search engine as OpenAI partners with news outlets

  • OpenAI is launching a ChatGPT-powered search engine that could put the artificial intelligence company in direct competition with Google and affect the flow of internet traffic seeking news, sports scores and other timely information.

  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Sri Lankan legal expert Sumathi Dharmawardena as the new independent chair for its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), effective November 1, 2024. 

NPCI COO Rai quits, takes over as MD and CEO of commodity exchange MCX

  • National Payments Corporation of India's (NPCI) chief operating officer Praveena Rai has quit the body and joined as the managing director and chief executive of MCX, she has three decades of experience primarily in the financial services sector. She also worked with Kotak Mahindra Bank, Citi and HSBC prior to joining NPCI.
