Tejas Shirse Wins Silver in Men’s 60m Hurdles at European Outdoor Championships
- In the European Outdoor Championships, India’s Tejas Shirse bagged the silver medal in the Men’s 60-meter Hurdles at the Meeting Miramas Métropole in France. He also set a new national record with a time of 7.64 seconds, surpassing his previous best of 7.65 seconds.

Sunita Williams Sets New Spacewalk Record
- Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams has set a new record for the longest spacewalking time by a woman, surpassing former astronaut Peggy Whitson’s previous record. Williams has logged 62 hours and 6 minutes of spacewalking time across nine spacewalks.

Maruti Suzuki Re-Appoints Hisashi Takeuchi as MD and CEO
- Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s largest automobile manufacturer, announced the re-appointment of Hisashi Takeuchi as its Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Takeuchi’s term has been extended for a period of three years, effective from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028.

IBA honours Karnataka Bank with six awards for banking technology excellence
- Karnataka Bank won awards in six categories at the ‘20th Annual Banking Technology Conference, Expo & Citations, 2024’, instituted by the Indian Banks’ Association. The awards were: ‘Best Tech Talent and Organization’, ‘Best IT Risk Management’, ‘Best Technology Bank’, and ‘Best Fintech and DPI Adoption’ (all runner-ups); and ‘Best Digital Sales, Payments and Engagement’ and ‘Best AI and ML Adoption’ (special mention).
Sachin Tendulkar to Receive BCCI’s Lifetime Achievement Award
- Legendary former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar will be honoured with the BCCI’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Board’s annual gala in Mumbai. Tendulkar will become the 31st recipient of the prestigious award, which was instituted in 1994 in honour of India’s first cricket captain, Col. C.K. Nayudu.

No income tax payable on income up to Rs 12 lakh
- In a big boost to the Indian middle class, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that there will be no income tax payable for incomes up to Rs 12 lakh, and Rs 12.75 lakh for salaried taxpayers (including standard deduction).
