India & Colombia signed Audiovisual Co-Production Agreement

• The Audiovisual Co-production Agreement between India and Colombia wias signed today ( October 15 ) in New Delhi, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan was the signatorie representative of India and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Jorge Enrique Rojas Rodriguez were the signatories representing his country.

PM Modi Launches ITU Telecom Conference and India Mobile Congress 2024

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 15, inaugurated the first-ever telecom standards conference organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in India, alongside the eighth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) in New Delhi. This event marks a significant milestone for India as it hosts the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) for the first time in the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting India’s growing role in the global telecom landscape.

• Dubai [UAE], : Sri Lanka's rising batting sensation Kamindu Mendis was crowned as the ICC Men's Player of the Month for September,
• Sparkling performances in her side’s short format series in Ireland ensures England’s Tammy Beaumont wins ICC Women’s Player of the Month. 

Sonam Uttam Maskar wins Silver Medal in Women’s 10m Air Rifle - ISSF World Cup

• Indian shooter Sonam Uttam Maskar won the silver medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle event at the ISSF World Cup 2024 final in Delhi. The 22-year-old Maskar excelled with a score of 252.9 to secure a podium finish. China’s Yuting Huang won the gold medal in this event, while French shooter Oceanne Muller took home the bronze. Tilottama Sen, the other Indian shooter in the final, finished sixth with a score of 167.7.

Paramesh Assumes Office as the New Director General of Indian Coast Guard

• Director General S Paramesh assumed as the new chief of the Indian Coast Guard at its headquarters Paramesh received a guard of honour on the occasion. The Centre on Monday appointed him as the new chief of the maritime force. 

Rashmika Mandanna Appointed as National Brand Ambassador for Cyber Safety

• Rashmika Mandanna, the popular film actor, has been appointed as the national brand ambassador of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). This initiative, launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), aims to combat the rising threats of cyber crimes across the nation.

• World Anesthesia Day or World Anaesthesia Day, also known in some countries as National Anaesthesia Day or Ether Day, is an annual event celebrated around the world on 16 October to commemorate the first successful demonstration of diethyl ether anesthesia by William T. G. Morton on 16 October 1846. 

World Spine Day

• October 16th marks World Spine Day, an annual event recognized as the largest public health initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the global burden of spinal pain and disability, The World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) initiated World Spine Day on October 16, 2008 to raise awareness about spine disorders and how to treat them.

President Murmu confers with Honorary Doctorate in Political Science

• President Droupadi Murmu who is on a visit to Algeria, as part of her three nation visit was conferred with Honorary Doctorate in Political Science by Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University in Algiers. Kamal Baddari, the Algerian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, handed over the Doctorate.

• Odisha has bagged the best state award in the 5th National Water Awards 2023, which was announced by the Union Minister for Jal Shakti Chandrakant Raghunath Paatil on 14 October 2024 in New Delhi.

CCI clears Central Bank of India's stake acquisition in Future Generali

• The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the proposed acquisition of Future Enterprises Ltd’s (FEL) 24.91 per cent stake in Future Generali India Insurance and 25.18 per cent shareholding in Future Generali India Life Insurance by Central Bank of India.
