US to sell High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare sonobuoys to India

• The US has decided to sell High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare (HAASW) sonobuoys worth USD 52.8 million to India. It will enhance India’s capacity to conduct anti-submarine warfare operations from its MH-60R helicopters. The proposed sale will also strengthen the US-India strategic and defence relationship.

PM Modi to flag off 6 new Vande Bharat trains

• Prime Minister Modi flagged off six Vande Bharat trains at Tatanagar Junction Railway Station around 10 am, September 15, the six new routes that these trains will cover are Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah and Gaya-Howrah. 

Fourth edition of the Global Bio-India 2024 concluded New Delhi

• The fourth edition of Global Bio-India 2024 concluded successfully at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, showcasing India’s growing biotech capabilities. Organized by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, in partnership with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC),

Neeraj Chopra clinches silver in Diamond League, falls just 1cm short of gold

• Javelin throw star Neeraj Chopra narrowly missed out on reclaiming the Diamond League Trophy finishing just one centimetre behind the champion, Chopra’s best throw of 87.86 metres came in his third attempt, falling short of Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who secured the title with an 87.87-metre throw on his first try.

• In 2007 the United Nations General Assembly resolved to observe 15 September as the International Day of Democracy—with the purpose of promoting and upholding the principles of democracy—and invited all member states and organizations to commemorate the day in an appropriate manner that contributes to raising public awareness. 

Doordarshan Foundation Day

• Doordarshan, India’s public service broadcaster, proudly marks its 65th anniversary this year. Since its establishment on 15th September 1959, Doordarshan has been at the forefront of Indian media, promoting unity, culture, and education while serving as the nation’s voice. 

Engineers’ Day :India

• Engineer’s Day, celebrated annually on September 15, is a day dedicated to the remarkable minds that bring ideas to life and shape the modern world. In India, Engineer’s Day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of the greatest engineers India has ever produced.
