G7 agrees $50bn loan for Ukraine from Russian assets
- The G7 has agreed to use frozen Russian assets to raise $50bn (£39bn) for Ukraine to help it fight invading Russian forces. US President Joe Biden said it was another reminder to Russia "that we're not backing down", but in Moscow President Vladimir Putin said the move was "theft" which would "not go unpunished".
- During the G7 summit in Italy, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Biden signed a 10-year security agreement. This deal includes military and training aid to Ukraine but does not involve deploying US troops. It aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities and support its economic and energy security.

Madhya Pradesh CM Inaugurates PM Shri Tourism Air Service from Bhopal
- In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP government led by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has completed 180 days of its tenure. On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the PM Shri Tourism Air Service from Bhopal.
- Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav also inaugurated the ticket booking counter of the new service and provided boarding passes to the passengers.
- Under PM Shri Tourism Air Service, eight cities of the state, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa, Ujjain, Gwalior, Singrauli and Khajuraho are being connected through air service. In MP, the government has already started air ambulance service which is free for Aayushman card holders.

Dr. Kapil Dua Announced as President of the Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons
- Kapil Dua, a distinguished pioneer in hair transplant surgery in India with more than two decades of experience, has been appointed as the President of the Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (AAHRS).
- Dr Dua, also served as President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) in 2022-2023 and the Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (AHRS) India in 2016-2017,
- Dr Kapil Dua, co-founder of AK Clinics, is a leading figure in hair transplant surgery in India. With over 20 years of expertise, he has significantly advanced the field through pioneering techniques and leadership roles in national, Asian, and international hair restoration organizations.

World Wind Day or Global Wind Day
- Global Wind Day is a worldwide event observed annually on 15 June. It is a day for discovering wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems, decarbonise our economies and boost jobs and growth.
- The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) hosted the first Wind Day in 2007, ushering in this historic event. However, in 2009, the EWEA collaborated with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) to develop Wind Day into a global celebration, broadening its reach and effect around the world.
- The World Wind Day theme aims to raise awareness of wind energy's potential to change the world while simultaneously celebrating the benefits of this renewable resource.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
- World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is observed on June 15 every year to raise awareness about the abuse, neglect and exploitation of older adults. Often these abuses go unnoticed leaving many elder adults to suffer in silence.
- World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations.
- World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) 2024, will focus on the theme, "Spotlight on Older Persons in Emergencies," to highlight the critical need to protect and support older persons during crises.

Italy hosts G7 Summit: what’s on the agenda this year
- The Group of Seven (G7) countries will met for the Leaders’ Summit in Italy’s Apulia region between June 13 and 15, with the Mediterranean nation assuming the group’s presidency earlier this year.
- It comes at a crucial time for the forum, as members Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union navigate complex global challenges. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the summit, with India having been invited as an outreach country.
Two-Day India-IORA Cruise Tourism Conference Conducted in New Delhi
- The two day India-IORA Cruise Tourism Conference concluded in New Delhi. Officials and experts from the Indian Ocean Rim Association, IORA Member States including Bangladesh, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Seychelles and Tanzania participated in the Conference.
- External Affairs Ministry said that the Conference provided a platform for stakeholders to share best practices and policy initiatives towards developing and strengthening the cruise tourism sector in IORA Member States. Discussions covered infrastructure development, regulatory issues, sustainable tourism, employment generation, inclusion of women and business opportunities among others.

India ranked second in the World’s Largest Emitter of Nitrous Oxide gas
- India is the world’s second-highest nitrous oxide emitter, second only to China, according to a new report by the Global Carbon Project. Emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O)— a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon dioxide or methane— continued unabated between 1980 and 2020, a year when more than 10-million metric tons were released into the atmosphere primarily through farming practices.
- N2O emissions from human activities have increased by 40% in the past four decades. The report listed the top 10 nitrous oxide emission-producing countries. They are: China, India, the United States, Brazil, Russia, Pakistan, Australia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Canada.

Neobanking startup Jupiter Money gets RBI's nod to start prepaid wallet business
- Tiger Global-backed neobanking startup Jupiter has received the final authorisation from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to offer digital wallet to customers for UPI payments, money transfers and other such transactions.
- With the RBI’s approval, Jupiter can now issue Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs) which provide functionalities similar to bank accounts. Founder and CEO Jitendra Gupta noted that PPIs offer comprehensive payment capabilities, making them suitable for users who prioritize UPI and similar transactions while maintaining a secure account.
