Zoran Milanovic was Elected as the President of Croatia

  • President Zoran Milanovic has been reelected for a five-year term as the President of the European country of Croatia. According to the State Electoral Commission, President Zoran Milanovic, backed by the opposition Social Democratic Party won over 74 %of the run-off vote. 

India and Spain to celebrate 2026 as ‘dual year’ highlighting culture, tourism, and AI

  • External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during his official visit to Spain, announced that 2026 will be marked as a ‘dual year’ between India and Spain to celebrate culture, tourism, and advancements in Artificial Intelligence.

L&T launches second multi-purpose vessel for Navy from Kattupalli shipyard

  • Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has launched the second multi-purpose vessel for the Indian Navy from its Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai. The launch of the vessel, christened INS Utkarsh, comes within three months of the launch of the first MPV INS Samarthak. 

Union Minister Piyush Goyal launched the National Turmeric Board.

  • Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, on Tuesday (January 14, 2025), inaugurated the National Turmeric Board (NTB) to be headquartered in Nizamabad with Palle Ganga Reddy as its first chairperson at New Delhi.2 

Third-generation anti-tank missile ‘Nag Mk-2’ successfully tested by India

  • India completed the field evaluation trials of indigenously developed third-generation Anti-Tank Fire-and-Forget Guided Missile Nag Mk 2 at Rajasthan's Pokhran Field Firing Range.

  • India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was on Tuesday (January 14, 2025) named ICC Men's Player of the Month for December 2024 after his sensational performance during the recent tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Anju Bobby George Named Chairperson of AFI’s Athletes Commission

  • Anju Bobby George, the legendary long Jumper and a 2003 World Championships bronze medalist, was named the Chairperson of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) Athletes Commission. 

Manish Raj Gupta assumed the role of Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) at SAIL 

  • Manish Raj Gupta has assumed the role of Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). A Mechanical Engineering graduate from MANIT Bhopal, Gupta began his journey with SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical) at Durgapur Steel Plant.

Army Day: India

  • Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year in India, in recognition of Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa's (later who became Field Marshal) taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Roy Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.

  • The Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2025 commenced today (January 14) in Riyadh, bringing together representatives from the mining industry from over 85 countries to address critical challenges in the mineral sector. Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, joined ministers and officials from more than 50 nations at the prestigious event being held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center.
