Dr. Jitendra Singh Launches 'Amrit Gyan Kosh' and 'Faculty Development' Portals

• Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launches ‘Amrit Gyan Kosh’ Portal and ‘Faculty Development portal’ at the Civil Service Training Institutions Convention at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, Jitendra Singh traced back the journey of National Capacity Building Commission and Mission Karmayogi Bharat said, “It marks a paradigm shift in how we approach civil service training and it also envisions a future-ready civil service rooted in Indian ethos, with a global perspective. 

Indian Navy approves Mazagon Dock to build 6 submarines with German collaboration

• In a major development, the Indian Navy has cleared the state-owned Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) to build six submarines with the projected cost upto Rs 60,000 crore. The decision follows the completion of trials for submarines under Project 75 India, according to defence sources. 

DRDO Successfully Test Long Range Glide Bomb - GAURAV

• The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has carried out a successful maiden flight test of Long Range Glide Bomb (LRGB), GAURAV from the Su-30 MK-I platform of the Indian Air Force. the test was conducted off the coast of Odisha.

 BHEL Wins 1,600 MW Thermal Power Project from DVC

• State-owned BHEL has secured a 1,600 MW project from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). The coal-based unit will be set up in the Koderma district of Jharkhand on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) basis,

Union Jal Shakti Ministry launches Flood Watch India 2.0 App

• In order to improve flood forecasting and flood management systems in the country, the government of India has launched an improved Flood Watch India 2.0 App. The Flood Watch India app 2.0 provides real-time information on flood situations to users across the country through a smartphone. The Flood Watch India app 2.0 is an upgraded version of the Flood Watch India App launched in August 2023.

PR Sreejesh Appointed as New Head Coach of India’s Junior Men’s Hockey Team

• Hockey India (HI) has announced that retiring goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will take over as the new head coach of the junior men’s hockey team following India’s bronze medal victory at the 2024 Olympics. 

Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh Assumes Charge as MD at SBI

• Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh has taken over as managing director in charge of State Bank of India's (SBI) risk compliance and stressed assets resolution group (SARG) departments after his appointment got the government nod last week. “Singh took over on Thursday just after the government order as is the norm.

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day: India

• Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is an annual national memorial day observed on 14 August in India, commemorating the victims and sufferings of people during the 1947 partition of India. It was first observed in 2021, after announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
