Indian Naval Ship Shardul arrives in UAE

  • The Indian Naval Ship Shardul, part of the First Training Squadron of the Indian Navy, arrived at Port Mina Rashid, Dubai, UAE, on October 12, 2024, as part of its Long Range Training Deployment. This visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening maritime cooperation and fostering mutual understanding between India and UAE. 

Droupadi Murmu embarks on historic three nation visit to Africa

  • President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday departed from Delhi for Algeria for the first leg of her week-long three-nation visit in Africa, President Murmu will be on a visit to three African nations; Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi from October 13-19, - Ministry of External Affairs.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd becomes 14th Maharatna CPSE

  • The government has approved the upgradation of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to 14th Maharatna, Central Public Sector Enterprises. In a social media post, the Department of Public Enterprises said, that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has approved the upgradation of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to Maharatna CPSE. 

Maharashtra Launches India’s First Integrated State-Level Cyber Command and Control Center

  • The Maharashtra government has launched India’s first integrated state-level Cyber Command and Control Center, equipped with world-class technology and expertise. The facility, located at Mahape in Navi Mumbai, was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. During the inauguration.

International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction

  • The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) is observed on October 13th every year, the day was established in 1989 by the United Nations General Assembly to promote a global culture of disaster reduction and risk awareness.
  • Theme - The theme for the 2024 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) is "Empowering the next generation for a resilient future". The theme focuses on the role of education in protecting and empowering children and youth to be safe in a disaster-free future.

India ranks 105th in Global Hunger Index 2024

  • The Global Hunger Index (GHI), a tool used by international humanitarian agencies to measure and track hunger levels with GHI scores based on under-nourishment and child mortality indicators across 127 countries, has ranked India 105th, which places it under the serious category of the analysis.
