South Korea & NATO Sign Agreement on Mutual Recognition Process for Military Airworthiness Certification

  • South Korea and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) have signed an agreement on a mutual recognition process for military airworthiness certification. It is NATO’s first such deal with an Asian country. Under the deal signed NATO will recognize the Seoul government’s airworthiness certification for South Korean-made planes. 

Gitanas Nausėda Sworn in For Second Five-Year Term as the President of Lithuania

  • Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda was sworn in for a second five-year term. The ceremony commenced with a ceremonial event at the Lithuanian Parliament, the Seimas, where Mr. Nauseda took the presidential oath with his hand on the Constitution.

Indian Government declared June 25 as Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas

  • "The Government of India has decided to observe the 25th of June every year as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas.' This day will commemorate the massive contributions of all those who endured the inhuman pains of the 1975 Emergency. 

NITI Aayog Releases SDG India Index 2023-24

  • National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) has released SDG India Index 2023-24 According to the NITI Aayog's SDG India Index India's overall Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) score increased to 71 in 2023-24, compared to 66 in 2020-21, supported by significant progress on eliminating poverty, providing decent work, economic growth, climate action and life on land.

Former pacer Jhulan Goswami joins Trinbago Knight Riders as mentor

  • Former India pacer Jhulan Goswami has joined Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) as a mentor ahead of the women's Caribbean Premier League. She will be seen in the role of mentor to a team led by star all-rounder Deandra Dottin, who captained TKR Women to the championship title in the inaugural season of WCPL in 2021. 

Shooter Sabeera wins bronze in Shotgun Junior World Cup

  • Sabeera Haris clinched a bronze medal in women's trap to open India's account in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Porpetto, Italy.
  • Sabeera shot 29 out of 40 targets in the final to finish behind Sofia Gori of Italy who won silver with 39 hits out of the full quota of 50 targets

IIT Delhi & Prasar Bharati to Host Two-Day Robot Competition ‘DD-Robocon’ India 2024 in Delhi

  • IIT Delhi and Prasar Bharati will host the two-day Robot Competition ‘DD-Robocon’ India 2024 at Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi. The event will host more than 750 students from over 45 colleges, institutions, and universities in the country. During the competition, robots will face off each other to execute complex tasks within precise windows of time.

RBI eases LRS norms for investment via GIFT IFSC

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on July 10 expanded the scope of remittances to International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs) under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) and allowed residents to open foreign currency accounts in GIFT City.
  • This means individuals can use their foreign currency accounts in Gift City to conduct a broader array of financial activities that are allowed under LRS within the current limit of $250,000 per year.
