Russian Business Centre to open in New Delhi

• The Russian Embassy in India is set to inaugurate the Russian Business Center on November 12, an initiative led by the Business Council for Cooperation with India and Synergy Corporation, New Delhi. 

The campus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) to be opened in Dubai

• Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced that a new campus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) will be opened in Dubai soon. While virtually addressing the 57th convocation of IIFT in New Delhi Mr Goyal emphasised the pivotal role the young graduates can play in securing a bright future of India.

• Mauritian leader Navin Ramgoolam is all set to take over the new Prine Minister of Mauritius for the third time, Hours after Mauritius incumbent Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth conceded defeat in Sunday’s parliamentary election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated him on his victory.

• Defence Space Agency inaugurated a first-ever space exercise Antariksha Abhyas-2024 in New Delhi, the three-day exercise is aimed at providing an enhanced understanding of space-based assets and services. 

Dharmendra Pradhan to inaugurate national workshop on Higher & Technical Education

• Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a two-day national workshop on Higher and Technical Education with Secretaries of States and Union Territories. The workshop aims to disseminate various approaches and methodologies to implement National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and effectively articulate the roadmap and implementation strategies.

• In Chess, GM Aravindh Chithambaram clinched the Chennai Grand Masters 2024 title after an intense final against American GM Levon Aronian. Meanwhile, GM V Pranav remained unbeaten throughout the tournament to claim the Challengers title.

Varadarao Kamalakara Rao passes away at 88 

• World-renowned Mridangam scholar Varadarao Kamalakara Rao breathed his last in Rajahmundry He was 88. He received the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award years ago. Kamalakara Rao became a Mridanga Vidwan at an early age.

• World Pneumonia Day, observed on November 12 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness about pneumonia, a life-threatening but preventable and treatable respiratory illness. The day emphasises the impact of pneumonia, especially among children under five and the elderly, who are most vulnerable.
• Theme - The theme for World Pneumonia Day in 2024 is "Every Breath Counts: Stop Pneumonia in Its Track." This theme emphasises the critical importance of each breath and highlights the urgent need to combat pneumonia through timely detection, effective treatment, and preventative measures.

Assam signs tripartite MoU with CBC & Karmayogi Bharat to boost Civil Servant Training

• The Assam government signed a tripartite MoU with the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and Karmayogi Bharat (SPV) in Guwahati.
• This MoU aims to bolster the implementation, facilitation and engagement with Mission Karmayogi Programme of the Centre for Capacity Building of Civil Servants in Assam by bringing in the Framework of Roles Abilities and Competencies framework and bringing in IT Intervention in Training of Civil Servants.
