India and Mongolia Set to Forge Mining Partnership
- India is set to sign an MoU with Mongolia to enhance cooperation in geology and exploration aiming to secure essential resources like copper and coking coal. This partnership will help diversify India’s supply sources reducing dependence on traditional suppliers and strengthening industrial sectors.
Sri Lanka launch 1st certificate course in Hindi on World Hindi Day
- Sri Lanka has launched the first certificate course in Hindi in the country to promote Hindi education in the country. The initiative was launched in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 10 January 2025 on the occasion of the World Hindi Day or Vishwa Hindi Diwas. The World Hindi Day has been observed every year on 10th January since 2006

Union Minister Sonowal Unveils National River Traffic & Navigation System
- On January 11, 2025, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, launched the National River Traffic and Navigation System (NRT&NS) during the second meeting of the Inland Waterways Development Council (IWDC) in Kaziranga, Assam. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of inland waterway transportation across India.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal launches Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform
- Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has launched the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform at the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 in New Delhi. The platform is an initiative designed to enhance India’s cleantech value chains in the solar, wind, hydrogen, and battery storage sectors.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw lays foundation stone for Syrma SGS’s laptop assembly line
- Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw laid the foundation stone for a new assembly line to produce laptops at the state-of-the-art Chennai facility of leading electronic systems design and manufacturing company Syrma SGS Technology Ltd in Tamil Nadu.
Telangana Government to set up 1000 MW solar plant through women SHG
- The Telangana government has set a target to install an additional 1000 MW of solar power in the state through women's self-help group (SHG) under its Indira Mahila Shakti Scheme. This was announced by the Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka while addressing the state District Collectors through video conferencing.

National Youth Day
- National Youth Day, also known as Vivekananda Jayanti, is celebrated annually on 12 January, being the birthday of a Hindu monk, Swami Vivekananda. In 1984, the Government of India declared this day as National Youth Day and since 1985 the event is celebrated in India every year.

Neeraj Chopra named best javelin thrower of the year by US Magazine
- Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra of India has been named the best javelin thrower of the 2024 by the respected American magazine Track and Fields News. Anderson Peters of Grenada was ranked second by the magazine, 27-year- old Neeraj Chopra competed in six international events in 2024, won two and finished runners up in four events.
